Brief: Proposed Street Project Picks Up Pace

Property owners on Jans Drive in Chesterfield Township are a step closer to getting the street paved.

Chesterfield Township Board of Trustees voted Tuesday night to move forward with a proposed paving project on Jans Drive, setting a public hearing for 7 p.m. Sept. 19 to review costs.

Fourteen property owners on Jans Drive, located off of Jefferson Avenue between 21 Mile and Cotton roads, signed and submitted a petition for paving the north end of the road.

Township Supervisor Mike Lovelock said during Monday’s meeting that the street does have some bad spots that need to be fixed.

The project, estimated to cost about $32,500, will involve removing the existing asphalt pavement and installing 4.5 inches of new asphalt. Property owners on the drive will be responsible for cost, according to the resolution adopted by the board.
