Chesterfield Firefighters Honored for 35 Years of Service

Firefighters James Schafer Sr. and Leonard Pittinato were recognized Monday night at the Board of Trustees meeting.

Two longtime Chesterfield Township firefighters were honored Monday night for 35 years of service.

The Board of Trustees approved resolutions that recognized James Schafer Sr. and Leonard Pittinato, as Fire Chief Doug Charbonneau and several firefighters were on hand for the ceremony.

"Thank you for the honor and thank you for the privilege of working and serving Chesterfield Township," Schafer told the board.

Pittinato said, "I'm extremely grateful to  have the opportunity to serve this community for all these years."

The firefighters, who have decided to retire, were honored exactly on the 35th anniversary of their hiring back in Oct. 1, 1977.

Township officials congratulated them on their hard work and the crowd applauded them with a standing ovation during the meeting.
