Chesterfield Township Trustee Printz Resigns

Trustee Cheryl Printz stepped down Monday night to serve as clerk in Berkley.

Chesterfield Township Supervisor Michael Lovelock officially announced the resignation of Trustee Cheryl Printz at Monday night’s board meeting.

Printz announced that she is leaving due to a scheduling conflict after serving on the board for almost seven years.

“She’s been offered the position and has accepted it as the city clerk for Berkley,” Eric Wurmlinger, the township's deputy clerk, said of the Oakland County community.

On Wednesday, Berkley officials said an announcement on the clerk position is expected soon but declined to speak specifically about Printz.

During the meeting, Printz said, “I did this because I accepted a position in another community. I just want to thank the community for the opportunity to serve them these past seven years and to my fellow board members for working with me in a cooperative and professional manner.

“While I realize that not everyone may have agreed with all of my decisions, please know that I always made my decisions based on what I felt was in the best interest of the residents and the township. … Serving the public is an important responsibility and it should never be taken lightly.”

Board members took time during the meeting to thank Printz for her work as a board trustee.

“We’ve been very fortunate that the people in this community elected Cheryl Printz and then re-elected her," treasurer Linda Hartman said. “She’s been an outstanding representative for this township.”

“You’re very dedicated,” Trustee Michele Ficht told Printz. “It’s their gain and our loss and you will surely be missed by us.”

Her last day with the township is June 30. Lovelock said a new trustee will be appointed to the board within 45 days. Applicants can submit letters of interest to the .
