City Council Candidates File Petitions

Mayor Larry Smith will run opposed and several candidates seek open seats on City Council in 2011.

Several incumbents and newcomers will run for open seats this year in New Baltimore.

The petition deadline for the upcoming elections was 4 p.m. Tuesday, Clerk Marcia Shinska said.

According to the documents, Mayor Larry Smith will run unopposed in the November election. Simultaneously, incumbents Kenneth Butler II, who is also mayor pro-tem, Florence Hayman and Dave Duffy will square off against Frank Krause, Stan Russell and Zack Stanton for three, four-year-term seats.

Additionally, Laura Lynn Szymanski Boyles, Jim Morisette Sr., and Karl Rutledge will compete for one, two-year-term seat in the Aug. 2 primary election.
