In Brief: Grand Opening Set for Police Station

A flag-raising, tours and ribbon-cutting will all be part of the New Baltimore police station grand opening ceremony set for the evening of Oct. 3.

Community members will rally around the new police station Oct. 3 for a grand opening ceremony in New Baltimore.

The event is scheduled 6-8 p.m. at 37885 Green St.

  • Mayor Larry Smith will give the welcoming message.
  • School Band and Anchor Bay Interfaith Choir are set to perform during a presentation of colors and a flag-raising ceremony. They will be joined by local community groups.
  • New Baltimore police chaplains Karen Winter and will bless the building and officers.
  • Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel is scheduled to do the invocation.
  • State Rep. Andrea LaFontaine will pay tribute to the new station and force.
  • Macomb County Board of Commissioners Chairwoman of Chesterfield will give a dignitary speech.
  • New Baltimore will introduce the Building Oversight Committee.
  • & Citizens Advisory Committee will do the ribbon cutting.
  • The public is welcome to a tour and refreshments.

I am really looking forward to this event. We have such a great police department and couldn't ask for a better chief in Tim Wiley.
