New Baltimore City Council's Brief, Efficient Meeting

New police station, businesses, the Lions Club and the Department of Public Services had items on the agenda.

New Baltimore City Council approved several items for the community during an efficient, 10-minute Monday night meeting.

  • Council approved to open the bidding process for the on Green St. after Chief Tim Wiley presented the design plan. Contractors will be sought through the architectural firm to renovate the former lending office. Bids will start being accepted at 2 p.m. May 14, according to the city.
  • was approved by the Planning Commission to upgrade their  parking lot, creating more parking spaces. The restaurant will also enlarge the back seating area with brick pavers and an extended canopy.
  • A bid was accepted by Burke's Sports Haven to produce new uniforms, including adult and youth shirts, caps, pants and socks for the New Baltimore Baseball League.
  • The will upgrade to a newer tractor and a brand new lawn mower thanks to the council's approval. The 1987 Ford tractor will be replaced with a New Holland tractor with broom, snow blade, brush hog and turf tires.
  • Lastly, New Baltimore Lions Club got the green light to hold its annual white cane drive on April 29-30.
