L'Anse Creuse Superintendent Announces Plans to Retire

Superintendent Dr. DiAnne Pellerin has announced her intent to retire effective Jan. 27, according to the district.

After more than 20 years in the district, L'Anse Creuse Superintendent Dr. DiAnne Pellerin plans to retire in the winter.

Pellerin announced her intent to retire at the Monday board of education meeting. Her last day is expected to be Jan. 27, according to the district.

In 1990, she started her career at the district as principal of . In 1994, she became the director of elementary education, focusing on improving curriculum and instruction. She was named assistant superintendent for instruction in the summer of 2001 and was named by the board of education to lead the 12,000-student district.

According to school officials, Pellerin spearheaded the $210-million bond initiative in 2005 that paved the way for facilities and technology improvements for the next decades. Pellerin was honored when the new home of Riverside Academy was dubbed the DiAnne M. Pellerin Center on Nov. 1, 2009.

“I am honored to have served as the district’s fifth superintendent, and I sincerely appreciate all the wonderful opportunities afforded me by the L’Anse Creuse Public Schools,” Pellerin said in a prepared statement. “While I have enjoyed my 33-plus years in education as both a teacher and administrator, I am looking forward to my retirement and the next chapter in my life’s journey.”

The board of education also appointed new officers at its July 13 organizational meeting. The appointments are: Kenneth N. Hoover, president; Linda J. McLatcher, vice president; Charles W. Eslinger, secretary, Jeffrey A. DiPascale, treasurer; and trustees: David S. Fowler, Pamela L. Hornberger and Donald R. Hubler.
