Senior Soccer Captains Lead Tars

Meet our Athletes of the Week: Anchor Bay's senior soccer players Alexandra Schneider and Jenna Taylor.

Some coaches get nervous going into a season with only two seniors on their roster.

Not soccer coach Brian Grammens.

"If you are asking for true leaders, you got them in Jenna and Alex," Grammens said. "As a coach, I couldn't ask for anything more. They are vibrant, always smiling and happy and they keep the team together. Unity is such a big thing for our program and they are at the apex of that. They've both been on varsity for four years and this year they are our only seniors."

Jenna Taylor plays center mid for the team and acts as the quarterback.

"Jenna is charismatic and happy-go-lucky," said Grammens. "She doesn't get down on herself too much."

Alexandra Schneider plays forward for the Tars.

"For the four years I've know Alex, she's had the same demeanor," said Grammens. "She wants to go out and win. She's coming back this year after a nagging injury from last year and I expect good things from her."

Grammens adds that the future looks bright for his young team and the captains will lead them into the battle of the tough Macomb Area Conference white division.
