  • It’s all about and a pair of brothers, Eric (119 pounds) and Larry Rybarz (135 pounds), and Johnny Bourcier (152 pounds) each gave fans plenty to talk about last weekend at state wrestling finals.  The Rybarz brothers finished in fourth place for their respective weights, while Bourcier battled hard at the event.
  • The captured a state championship March 4, beating Taylor Kennedy in the title match, 1,183-1,169. Tars standouts Mika Bogue (223) and Sarah Lokker (198), paced the Tars in the championship match. Way to go, girls.
  • Lokker was just as sharp the following day in the individual title matches, advancing to the quarterfinals before falling to Portage Central’s Tori Ferris, who was the eventual state champion.
  •  On a side note, Larry Rybarz broke the school wrestling record for victories at the state finals, earning his 204th career victory at the event.

A Look Ahead

  • The boys hoops team takes its Macomb Area Conference Blue title-winning talent into the postseason this week against L’Anse Creuse North at 7 p.m. Monday, March 7 at Anchor Bay. The game is another chapter in what's become a pretty good rivalry.
