Anchor Bay Track Stars Shine

Big week ahead for high school track standouts and baseball and softball teams.

We’re going to keep this week’s edition of the Pick of the Week short and to the point.

Why?

Well, it’s because the forecast, for once this season, looks favorable and the high school state playoffs are about to get under way in both baseball and softball—the district round is slated to start with pre-district competition Tuesday, while the rest of the round wraps up on Friday (in a few cases) and Saturday (in most cases).

We don’t want to jinx the weather so let’s not spend a lot of time rambling about how teams may come in with fewer games than normal under their belts, thus tipping the scale to more experienced baseball and softball teams this season more than usual, and get right to the point.

First of all, let's take a second to congratulate track standouts , Eddie Komph, David Parsons, Alexandra Michayluk and Josie Terrell for moving on to the Division 1 state finals Saturday at Rockford High School.

Congrats, guys and girls, and the community is rooting for each of you this weekend.

Now, let’s take a quick look at the postseason schedules for both baseball and softball.

In softball, L’Anse Creuse North squares off against Dakota June 4 at 10 a.m. at Anchor Bay, while the Lady Tars play at 12 p.m. the same day against either Port Huron or Port Huron Northern.

The baseball squads share the same schedule as their softball counterparts against the foes—LCN takes on Dakota at 10 a.m., while the Tars meet either Port Huron or Port Huron Northern at 12 p.m. Each game is at Anchor Bay High.
