Barthlow Bowls For Greatness For Anchor Bay
Anchor Bay freshman bowler is averaging 219 in his last three matches.
Shane Barthlow has made it a personal goal to become a great bowler, not just a good bowler.
The freshman is well on his way to reaching that goal, averaging 219 in his last three matches for the Tars.
“The difference between good and great is just a matter of inches for Shane,” Anchor Bay boys coach Kevin Hibbs said. “It is knowing when to change before you need to change. Shane will be a top-notch bowler in the next couple of years if he continues to apply himself.”

Barthlow’s highlights include first-place finishes in the 2010 Gavie tournament and 2009 Team Michigan State tournament, as well as a fourth-place finish in the 2009 overall Michigan state tournament.
A personal highlight of Barthlow’s happened while bowling in a pro-am tournament with professional bowler Brad Angelo. When Shane threw a 4-7-10 split, Angelo asked to double up with him to make it. While Angelo’s ball went into the gutter, Barthlow smoothly picked up the tricky spare.
Anchor Bay is currently 7-2, tied for first place in the Macomb Area Conference White Division with Chippewa Valley. The two teams square off in the season’s final match on Thursday.
