Bring Your Sports to Patch

The Pick of the Week column wants to hear from you about the top games and players each week.

Well, it was bound to happen now, wasn’t it?

My ADD would kick in and I’d feel this unrelenting urge to tweak, improve and upgrade the Pick of the Week column.

Now, I know what you’re thinking–John, wasn’t the Pick of the Week (I like to call it the “POW,” for short) already perfect? I mean, how could it ever be improved upon?

Well, you’re right, the POW was pretty darn good–and yes, it did give you fans a heads-up on some of the more intriguing prep sports contests in and around town.

But, there was room to grow, room to expand, room to make this little space even better. So, that’s what we’re going to do–make it even better.

How? You might ask.

Well, that’s simple.

Now, you see, the POW is going to be more than just a featured upcoming game.

You deserve better than that, right?

Sure you do.

So, from this point on, the POW is going to be a one-stop local sports destination. From little kids to the big kids, we’re going to cover it all.

We’re going to try to touch as many bases as possible, and we’re going to do this by opening this forum up to you–the fans, players and even coaches.

Some weeks it might be a few games, others it might be some recap of games from the previous week. Sometimes it might be a brief conversation with a coach or a player, while some weeks it’ll be a blend of all of these things—or maybe something completely different.

The bottom line is that this little space on the web now belongs to sports fans like you–period. The hope is to really tap into the thriving sports scene in your community, get folks involved and get folks excited about local sports.

I think we’re going to do just that, personally, and I’m excited to hear from you guys and gals out there.

So, send me those e-mails without delay.

Let me know what you know, what you’ve heard, what you think. I’m working for all of you now, so don’t hesitate to give me something to talk about in the weeks to come.

It’s easy. Just e-mail me at jmctaggart001@wowway.com.

Or post a comment or photo on the New Baltimore-Chesterfield Patch Facebook page.
