It's time for the Algonac Lions Club 2011 Pickerel Tournament in downtown Algonac, running through July 4. But it's much more than a fishing contest.
Today's lineup includes:
- 7 a.m.: Registration opens for kids fishing contest
- 7 a.m.: Bike tour begins, at Clay Township Park
- 8 a.m.-noon: Kids fishing contest at Riverfront Park
- Noon: Midway opens
- Noon-dusk: Arts and crafts show, Riverfront Park
- 1 p.m.: Honoring of veterans, Main Stage
- 1:30 p.m.: Pie-eating contest, Main Stage
- 3-10 p.m.: Bingo at Riverfront Park
- 4 p.m.: Queen contestants give speeches, Main Stage
- 5-10 p.m.: Vegas Room, St. Catherine's
- 5 p.m.-midnight: Beer tent, St. Catherine's
- 5 p.m.: Voting for queen ends
- 7 p.m.: Crowning of festival queen, Main Stage
- 7 p.m.: Poker tournament, St. Catherine's
- 8 p.m.: Hot dog-eating contest, Main Stage
- 8 p.m.: Live entertainment, beer tent
- 10 p.m.: Fireworks, Riverfront Park
- 11 p.m.: Daily fishing prizes, Main Stage
- Midnight: Midway closes
