Algonac Pickerel Tournament

It's time for the Algonac Lions Club 2011 Pickerel Tournament in downtown Algonac, running through July 4. But it's much more than a fishing contest.

Today's lineup includes:

• Noon: Midway opens
• Noon-dusk: Arts and crafts show, Riverfront Park
• 2 p.m.: Street parade
• 3-10 p.m.: Bingo at Riverfront Park
• 5-10 p.m.: Vegas Room, St. Catherine's
• 5 p.m.-midnight: Beer tent
• 4-6 p.m.: Adult Karaoke Contest finals
• 6 p.m.-midnight: Battle of the Bands, Main Stage
• 7 p.m.: Poker tournament, St. Catherine's vegas Room
• 8 p.m..-midnight: Entertainment, beer tent
• 10 p.m.: Fireworks (rain day)
• 10:30 p.m.: Daily fishing prizes awarded, Main Stage
• 11 p.m.: Midway closes

Also happening today:

Algonac High School

• 7:15-8:20 a.m.: Race day registration and packet pickup
• 8:30 a.m.: 10K run start at Algonac High School, finishing at Clay Township Park
• 8:32 a.m.: 5K run and walk start at Algonac High School, finish line at Clay Township Park

Clay Township Park

• 10 a.m.: Kids Minnow 1/4-mile run, start and finish at Clay Township Park
• 11 a.m.: Registration for horseshoe tournament
