Winterfest Fun Returns to New Baltimore

Winter is here, so why not celebrate? That's what the New Baltimore Lions are doing, bringing Winterfest back to downtown Jan. 27-29.

All the Winterfest fun you've come to expect will be there.

Friday, Jan. 27

  • The festival tent opens at 6 p.m. Entry fee is $5. Enjoy wine from Washington Street Wine House, light appetizers from Little Camille's (formerly Slippery Rock), and additional beverages will be sold by the Lions Club. Just look for the big tent on Washington between Main and Front streets.
  • The Blair Cremeens Anchor Bay Glee Club "Stars" perform from 7-8 p.m.
  • The 10-piece Sound Alternative Band will perform starting at 8:30 p.m.

Saturday, Jan. 28

  • A kids party will be held from noon-2 p.m. at the New Baltimore Recreation Center. Enjoy games, clowns, entertainment for youngsters, hot dogs, chips and more, for free. It's a circus theme, and kids can attend in costume. Also, New Baltimore-Chesterfield Patch will be at the party to hand out a limited amount of Patch goodies.
  • The festival tent opens at 5:30 p.m. Admission is $5. The chili cookoff begins at 6 p.m.; contestants will try for various honors including Mayor's Choice and People's Choice. Coffee, beer, pop and water will be available for purchase. Want extra information? Contact Fred Kopson, 586-873-9160.

Saturday, Jan. 28, and Sunday, Jan. 29
Saturday and Sunday the fishing tournament will take place. Prizes will be awarded for the biggest catch in several categories. Regulations and rules are available at various bait shops in the Anchor Bay area.

Sunday, Jan. 29

  • Boy Scout Troup 211 holds its pancake breakfast, 8 a.m.-noon, at the Recreation Center. Donations will be accepted.
  • The tent opens at 11 a.m. No entry fee. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.
  • No Winterfest is complete without the Polar Bear Plunge. Check in from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Participants will take the plunge at 2 p.m.
  • The Doin' Time Band will perform from 12:30-5 p.m.
  • The awards ceremony will be held at 4:30 p.m.
