New Baltimore Player Gets Ready for Spartans' New Season

Taiwan Jones will be on the field when Michigan State opens its 2012 season tonight against Boise State.

When the Spartan football team gathers on their sideline for the season-opening kickoff in tonight's game against Boise State, you'll want to look for a local gridiron hero.

Whether you are in the stands or watching on TV, keep an eye out for #34. That's Taiwan Jones, the 6'-3" sophomore linebacker from New Baltimore. Jones, the son of Clarence and Kecia Jones, is a true sophomore who played high school football at Anchor Bay.

Jones appeared in all 14 games last season, primarily on special teams, to earn his first letter. He was also a backup linebacker and had 18 tackles (3 solos, 15 assists) and was the only true freshman on offense or defense to see playing time for the Spartans last season, according to the MSU media guide.
