Tars' Jones Makes Mark with Spartans

Anchor Bay graduate Taiwan Jones will take the field for Michigan State when it plays Georgia in the Outback Bowl on Jan. 2.

As a true freshman, has proved a big hit for the Michigan State football team.

Jones, who graduated from and was a , has played in all 13 games for the Spartans this year, and he will be in uniform on Monday when MSU takes on Georgia in the Outback Bowl.

Jones has registered 18 tackles playing on special teams and as a backup linebacker for MSU this season.

His best game came against Indiana on Nov. 19 when he made four tackles and broke up a pass.

Jones also has made an impact in practice. Wide receiver B.J. Cunningham told Joe Rexrode of the Lansing State Journal that Jones has earned the nickname “The Terminator” and has gained a reputation for his hard hits in practice.

Michigan State will play Georgia on Jan. 2 at 1 p.m. The game will be televised on ABC.
