Three Anchor Bay Track Athletes to Compete at State Meet

Alec Waiter, Zach Joyce and Eddie Komph qualified for the Division 1 state track and field finals in East Kentwood on June 2.

Three members of the boys track and field team will compete at the Division 1 state finals on Saturday, June 2, in East Kentwood, according to the MHSAA.

Alec Waiter, Zach Joyce and Eddie Komph all qualified for the state track meet after their performances at the regional meet on Friday, May 18, at Warren Mott.

Joyce won the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.40 seconds; Waiter finished second in the  300 intermediate hurdles with a time of 40.70 seconds; and Komph placed second in the 3,200 run with a time of 9:47.60.

Anchor Bay finished sixth in the team standings at the regional. Sterling Heights Stevenson won the meet with 108.5 points.

Girls track

Katilyne Zopf-Ellis of the girls track and field team qualified for the state meet after finishing second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.40 seconds in the regional at Warren Mott on May 18.
