VFW Wins Darien Little League Major Division Title [Video]

VFW rallied from a four-run deficit to edge out Rings End Lumber, 8-7, in a thriller at McGuane Field.

Jackson Vaught scored the winning run on a throwing error in the bottom of the sixth inning Sunday as VFW rallied from a four-run deficit to edge Rings End Lumber 8-7 in the championship game of the Darien Little League's major
Charlie Sealy sparked the comeback by going 3-for-3 with two homers and five RBI, including a run-scoring single that tied the contest 7-7 in the fifth.
Vaught led off the sixth with a single and moved up on a pair of wild pitches. After Jakes Geddes reached on a fielders choice, Conner Henry was walked intentionally to set up a force at the plate.
Ring's End reliever Richard Brereton got the first out on a strikeout, but Jack Maloney's grounder to the left side of the infield brought in the winning run.
Ring's End started quickly, parleying hits by Brereton, starter Nathaniel Pucci and Matt Arcamone into a 3-0 lead in the top of the first. VFW answered on Sealy's three-run shot in the bottom of the first.
Brereton's RBI double in the second and Arcamone's run-scoring groundout in the third, which followed Pucci's leadoff triple, gave Rings End a 5-3 lead.
Rings End tacked on two runs in the fourth, grabbing a 7-3 lead on a wild pitch and Dylan Neal's RBI single, but Sealy opened the bottom of the inning with a solo homer, sparking a three-run rally for VFW.
Colby Ravosa, who replaced starter Jake Geddes in the fourth, earned the win in relief for VFW. He allowed two runs - one earned - and three hits over 2 1/3 innings.
Pucci went 3-for-3 and Brereton added two hits for Rings End while Vaught had a pair of singles for VFW.
