Although the official last day of summer is Sept. 21, gardens are beginning to wind down for the season as the nights cool, and gardeners are reflecting on how it went.
I know for my father's garden, we're still getting a steady stream of fresh ripe tomatoes, but the production of his 100-foot garden has started to slow.
Although I didn't do much of the work, I sure did reap the benefits of my father's vegetable garden.
This year he planted tomatoes, squash, broccoli, eggplant, green beans, peppers, cucumbers, scallions and lettuce.
As always, the tomatoes grew the best and were the most plentiful.
How did your garden do? Which fruit or vegetable plant grew the best? Also, do you have any tips for next year? Post them in the comments below.
