North Gratiot Cruise Gears Up for Sunday

A parade of classic cars is expected to leave the plaza, kicking off the cruise noon to 6 p.m. Sunday from Hall to 23 Mile on Gratiot. The headquarters for the event is inside the former Kmart parking lot on Gratiot south of 23 Mile, where a band is expected to perform.

"We hope to continue this on a year-to-year basis," Township Treasurer Linda Hartman said earlier this week. "We hope to see a lot of people there."

Organizers aim to get about 20,000 attendees and roughly $30,000 in proceeds. to go toward to support the K-9 unit and the Macomb County Sheriffs Office K-9 unit. The cruise due to lack of sponsorships and manpower to run the event.
