Plans are underway for the vacant parcel between Hall Road and 21 Mile.
A new hotel is expected this year along an expansive stretch of Interstate 94 in Chesterfield Township, according to the land owner. The Marriott hotel chain signed a contract to build on the vacant parcel between 21 Mile and Hall Road, said Thomas Guastello, President of Center Management in Birmingham. "They're debating on exactly what Marriott brand to do. It could be a Courtyard," Guastello said Wednesday of the preliminary plans. A ground-breaking is anticipated in spring for the hotel with approximately 100 rooms. Company representatives are in talks with the community but no official site plans have been submitted to the township yet, he said. Chesterfield Township police said Monday they're searching for a man who robbed the Speedway gas station on 21 Mile near Interstate 94.
Investigators are searching for an armed robber who targeted a Chesterfield Township gas station, police said Monday. At approximately 4 a.m. Sunday, the suspect walked into the Speedway gas station at 26115 21 Mile near Interstate 94. He selected food items from the station and approached the counter with money in his hand. As the clerk began to ring him up, he pulled out a black handgun and demanded money from the register, according to township Detective Sgt. Deron Myers. The clerk complied with the thief's demands and he then fled behind the gas station with an undisclosed amount of cash. Township police and the Macomb County Sheriff's K-9 Unit searched for the suspect but were unable to find him. They surmised he escaped the area in …

Anyone with information about the suspicious incident in Chesterfield Township is asked to call police.
Chesterfield Township police said Thursday they are seeking information about a possible stranger-danger incident that took place the previous night in the 21 Mile and Interstate 94 area. At approximately 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, a man appearing to be in his 60s or 70s, pulled his Ford Explorer up to boys, ages 9 and 11, on Kristel Court. The driver asked one of the children whether "he was a boy or a girl," according to township police. When a concerned parent approached the SUV, the driver did not respond and drove off. The parent noted the man had a Wisconsin license plate. He was described as white, with gray hair and long, scruffy gray beard. He drove a black 2008-10 Explorer.
