my daughter atteneds the high school. There were various letters emailed out to parents. I have alot of trust in the school. There were threats made at the school and the police were called in immediately. They did random locker and car searches. They patrolled the halways. I am very impressed with the way the school handles the situation and I had little issues with sending my daughter to school…   more ›

Anchor Bay Schools Receives 'Clean' Audit Report

The Board of Education approved the independent report Wednesday night during its regularly scheduled meeting.

Anchor Bay Schools received a "clean" audit opinion Wednesday night from an independent firm. The opinion presented to the Board of Education in Anchor Bay Middle School North is the "highest level of assurance possible for the district's financial statements," according to the report by Kim Lindsay. 'Difficult decisions' make for balanced budget Superintendent Leonard Woodside commended the Board of Education for handling the budget while board members acknowledged Anchor Bay Director of Business Services Kyle Anderson. District officials pointed to decreased funding from the state and decreased property values as the main factors for recent financial constraints. It's Homecoming time at Anchor Bay High School. The Tars will play Cousino on home field, as the crowd fills the stands to cheer them on. Patch asks Anchor Bay Student Activities Director Jennifer Serra about today's event and how the student body has been prepping for the festivities.  What kind of preparations are being made for Homecoming? Student Council members have been selling tickets for several weeks. Each grade is also responsible for helping with one aspect of HC: freshmen help with the parade, sophomores with Spirit Week, Juniors with Royalty, and Seniors handle the Pep Assembly. Residents in New Baltimore and Chesterfield Township will vote on a millage on Tuesday, May 8. Voters will decide the fate of the Anchor Bay Aquatic Center, and the Anchor Bay School District has put a three-year, half-mill levy on the ballot. The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Three polling dates in six months raise question of whether there's a better way.

Ready for a half-year of serial balloting? Voters will elect municipal leaders and consider school millages in a number of Southeast Michigan districts Tuesday, including the Anchor Bay School District, three months before Aug. 7 statewide primaries to nominate candidates for Congress, the legislature, courts and county offices. Those seats get filled Nov. 6.
