No Regrets Baking From Stahl's

Stahl’s Bakery says natural ingredients, moderation are key to "healthy" indulgence.

Some people keep a “look but don’t touch” policy when it comes to baked goods and sweets. While it might be possible to swear off all simple carbohydrates, fat, sugar and salt, few people do. So, is it possible to enjoy treats guilt-free? Dorothy Stabile owns Stahl’s Bakery in downtown New Baltimore with her husband Joseph and said that by baking with only natural ingredients and not overindulging, most people can find room for the occasional treat as part of a healthy diet. “Eating is a necessity of life, but also one of the greatest pleasures of living,” Stabile said. “It’s just a matter of balance and there are ways to make treats healthier.” Stabile said that about 50 years ago the bakery used lard to bake most items.
