Halie Watkins, a seventh-grade basketball player at L'Anse Creuse Middle School East, impressed her whole team when she made an incredible basket at the team's practice this week. The video, which can be watched above, was posted to the school's Facebook page on Thursday.

The Dec. 15 series will feature match-ups between the varsity boys and girls basketball squads of L'Anse Creuse, L'Anse Creuse North, Cardinal Mooney and Richmond high schools.
As an educator and coach, former L’Anse Creuse High School North Principal Dave Jackson was a strong supporter of students. Although Jackson passed away last February, his memory and unwavering support promises to live on through a scholarship fund established in his name. “I think anyone you talk to will tell you about his great character,” said LCN varsity boys basketball coach Jay Seletsky. “He walked the walk, got his hands dirty and supported everybody. His impact was bigger than even education as a whole. L'Anse Creuse North basketball player Tyler Conklin and diver Taylor Zablocki will head to Northwood University and the University of Alabama, respectively, next fall.
Athletes Tyler Conklin and Taylor Zablocki are the latest members of Crusader Nation to be recruited to take their respective talents to the college level. L'Anse Creuse North senior Conklin has committed to play basketball for Northwood University, in Midland, MI, next fall. The 6'4"-point guard/shooting guard was the leading scorer for the Crusaders last season and was instrumental in helping his team to the Class A boys basketball semifinals in March 2012. Northwood plays in the GLIAC Division II. The team is lead by Head Coach Jeff Rekeweg, who said he selected Conklin as his top recruit for his versatility and work ethic. L'Anse Creuse North fell 59-46 to Saginaw in the Class A boys basketball state semifinal game at MSU Breslin Center today.
The dream of a state basketball championship has ended for the Crusaders. Facing Saginaw in the Class A boys semifinal at MSU Breslin Center this afternoon, L'Anse Creuse North took an early lead, but was unable to overtake the Trojans in the final quarter, falling 59-46. Saginaw will now battle Rockford for the state championship at 4 p.m. Saturday at the MSU Breslin Center. LCN fans gave their team a standing ovation as they left the stadium and Crusader Nation continues to voice its support on Twitter. Read the full story here.

The Crusaders will continue what coach Jay Seletsky describes as "a dream ride" this afternoon when the varsity boys basketball team faces Saginaw in the Class A state semifinals. L'Anse Creuse North (22-4) kept its title hopes alive March 20 with a 46-40 win over Lake Orion at University of Detroit Mercy. Now the team travels to the MSU Breslin Center with the hope of defeating Saginaw (23-2) and earning a berth in the state final game on Saturday. Tickets are $8. The game will be broadcast online at MHSAA.tv. The winner of today's 2:30 p.m. matchup will face the victor of the 1 p.m. Rockford-Romulus game in the final. The state championship game will be played at 4 p.m. Saturday at the MSU Breslin Center.

Considered one of the more unlikely Class A quarterfinal pairings in recent memory, L’Anse Creuse North kept its title hopes alive with a 46-40 win over Lake Orion on Tuesday night at University of Detroit Mercy. “It’s been a dream ride,” Crusaders coach Jay Seletsky said, smiling. With an 11-2 run to open the fourth quarter, Seletsky’s team quickly erased a 29-26 deficit. Forward Ramone Griffin scored back-to-back layups on L’Anse Creuse North’s first two possessions of the quarter to give his team a 32-31 lead. The L'Anse Creuse North boys basketball team defeated Detroit Denby to win a Class A regional championship and advance to the state quarterfinals.
The L’Anse Creuse North boys basketball team defeated Detroit Denby 43-41 in a Class A regional championship on Wednesday at Anchor Bay High School, according to mhsaa.com. With the victory, the Crusaders advanced to the Class A state quarterfinals on Tuesday when they will take on Lake Orion at 7:30 p.m. at Detroit Mercy. LCN has an overall record of 20-5.

The LCN boys basketball team has advanced to the regional championship game after defeating Fraser on Monday.
The L’Anse Creuse North boys basketball team defeated Fraser 51-50 in a Class A regional semifinal on Monday at Anchor Bay High School, according to mhsaa.com. With the victory, LCN improved its overall record to 19-5. The Crusaders will play Detroit Denby for a regional championship on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Anchor Bay.
