Biggby Offers 99 Cent Tall Drinks for its Birthday Wednesday

Biggby, a Lansing-based coffee chain, is offering $.99 tall hot and iced drinks Wednesday, March 20.

Biggby Coffee is another year older and will be celebrating its 18th birthday Wednesday with 99-cent tall, hot or iced drinks until 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 20. After 5 p.m., all drinks will be 50 percent off. In 1995, co-founders Bob Fish and Mary Roszel, opened the very first Biggby location in East Lansing, MI. The coffee chain now has 164 cafes open or under contract across six states in Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, South Carolina, Wisconsin and Texas, according to Biggby. The Macomb Township Biggby is located at 18309 Hall Rd. Nearby, New Baltimore has welcomed a Biggby Coffee at 36540 Green Street in recent months.

Real Detroit Weekly Finds Best BBQ in New Baltimore

Bad Brad's BBQ was among the local businesses to make the Real Detroit's "Best in Metro 
Detroit" guide for 2013.

A New Baltimore restaurant is top-notch for barbecue, according to Real Detroit Weekly. A weekly newspaper serving Metro Detroit, Real Detroit Weekly asks readers each year to nominate and vote for their favorite businesses in dozens of categories. The votes are tallied and each February, the "Best in Metro 
Detroit" guide is released. This year, local businesses, including popular chains, snagged several of the top spots. Other popular chains to take top honors include Jimmy John's for best delivery, McDonald's for best fast food and Jet's Pizza for best pizza delivery. See the complete list here. Restaurant Planned for Former Anchor Bay Pharmacy

Site plans to refurbish the historic building on Washington Street were approved Monday night at the New Baltimore City Council meeting.

From distributing medicine to serving up dishes, a historic New Baltimore building is prepping for change. The former Anchor Bay Pharmacy on Washington Street is slated to become a restaurant, new owner Matthew Cipriano told City Council Monday night. Site plans call for the building to be refurbished, with upgrades including changes to the facade and windows replacements, according to planning commission documents. The commission approved the plans Jan. 15 that went before council for authorization this week. Cipriano did not discuss the business in detail during the meeting, but described it as a "restaurant, bar, night club" in a pre-application form for a Class C liquor license in New Baltimore. Van Dyke Biggby to Reopen Under New Ownership Jan. 15

Closed since September 2012, the Biggby Coffee on Van Dyke north of 23 Mile Road will celebrate its grand reopening with free and discount drinks starting Tuesday, Jan. 15.

After three Caramel Marvel-less months, the Biggby Coffee on Van Dyke is ready to offer its signature brews once again. Closed in September 2012, the store will reopen under new ownership on Tuesday, Jan. 15 – a date new owner Al Elfakir has been anticipating for the past six years. “This is my first official ownership of a store, although it’ll be six years this October that I’ve been in the Biggby family,” the 28-year-old said. A Sterling Heights native, Elfakir joined Biggby in 2007, working at the company’s home office while helping his brother to open a Biggby franchise of his own in Westland, MI. Will You Buy Starbucks' New Reusable Cups?

The coffee company will start offering the $1 cups Thursday.

Starting Thursday, Starbucks will be offering a more eco-friendly way to enjoy their coffee According to the Detroit Free Press, the coffee giant will begin selling reusable cups on Jan. 3 in an attempt to reduce the waste created by customers purchasing millions of beverages every day—and throwing their cups away. The cups will retail for $1 and fill up to a grande size of a cup of joe. Each refill in a reusable cup—be it one of the new tumblers or another Starbucks mug—earns the user a dime off their purchase. The cups have already debuted on the west coast, but will hit all Starbucks locations in the U.S. and Canada—including Clinton Township's store in The Mall at Partridge Creek—on Thursday. Biggby Opening Fulfills New Baltimore Coffee Craving

The coffee shop held a grand opening Tuesday on Green Street near Washington Street across from New Baltimore City Hall.

Two years in the making, Biggby Coffee held a grand opening Tuesday in New Baltimore. Owners Jim and Kathy Dehem, who are longtime New Baltimore residents, have said the city is a great place for the Michigan-based coffee chain. The franchise location is similar to other Biggby shops, featuring a slew of menu options such as coffees, smoothies, bagels and desserts. The New Baltimore coffee shop also has a drive-thru, free WI-FI and meeting area.

The coffee shop is located at 36540 Green Street near Washington in New Baltimore.

After two years and many setbacks, the Biggby Coffee in New Baltimore is percolating a Dec. 18 opening date. “From the beginning we knew New Baltimore would be a great place for Biggby and everyone here is just so excited.
