The latest renovations to the Hall Road entertainment center have been designed to enhance the venue's year-round appeal.
With its go-karts, mini-golf and water games, C.J. Barrymore’s is a popular summertime retreat, but renovations now underway look to make the Hall Road venue a year-round entertainment center. Owner Rick Iceberg said he hopes this latest expansion, which includes electric bumper cars, mini-bowling and new arcade games, will increase the venue’s wintertime appeal. “It’s one more thing,” Iceberg said of the renovations. “We’re trying to expand our winter business. We have so much in the summer, but the bumper cars are another indoor game.” This most recent addition, scheduled to open at the end of February, is yet another piece in Iceberg’s plans to diversify his company’s entertainment offerings. “You have to change,” Iceberg said. “…

The Anchor Bay boys and girls bowling team return to action at the regional meet after winning the MAC White championship.
The Anchor Bay boys and girls bowling teams won the Macomb Area Conference White Division Dual Meet championship on Thursday at Bowl One Lanes in Troy. The Anchor Bay boys team finished with a score of 2,299 to defeat runner-up Port Huron (2,097). Meanwhile, the Anchor Bay girls squad won over second-place Chippewa Valley. The Tars ended up with a total score of 1,876 to Chippewa Valley’s 1,659. The Anchor Bay teams will compete at the Division 1 regional tournament at 5 Star Lanes on Friday and Saturday.

Anchor Bay boys bowling team defeats Port Huron Northern 22-8.
Jon Fogarty led the Anchor Bay boys bowling team to a 22-8 victory over Port Huron Northern on Thursday. Fogarty bowled games of 233 and 243 for a 476 series for Anchor Bay. Shawn Bibee had games of 193 and 229 for a 422 series, and Shane Barthlow had games of 205 and 213 for a 418 series for the Tars. Sebastian Freeman paced Port Huron Northern with games of 210 and 241 for a 451 series. Anchor Bay boys bowling team competed at Bowl Swami's Motor City Team Challenge.
Anchor Bay’s boys bowling team finished ninth in Bowl Swami’s Motor City Team Challenge on Saturday. Anchor Bay qualified with games of 943, 1,025 and 1,015. The Tars also had four baker games of 204, 234, 166 and 232 for a total of 3,819 to qualify fifth. Anchor Bay then advanced to the playoff round, but missed advancing by two pins. The Tars qualified fifth for the 16-team playoffs, but failed to advanced. The junior-varsity boys team finished second at the event. Information submitted by Kevin Hibbs.

Tars roll past Port Huron 29-1 as Kelsey Fader leads the way.
Kelsey Fader led the Anchor Bay girls bowling team to a 29-1 victory over Port Huron on Monday. Fader rolled games of 223 and 185 for a 408 series to lead Anchor Bay. Kayla Gregoire bowled games of 163 and 215 for a 357 series, and Kristin Tyll had a game of 187 for the Tars. Chelsea Kelly had games of 167 and 216 for a 383 series for Port Huron. Anchor Bay improved its record to 6-1 overall.

Shane Barthlow, Sean Mariotti, Shawn Bibee and Jon Fogarty led the Anchor Bay boys bowling team to a 23-7 victory over Port Huron on Monday. Barthlow paced Anchor Bay with games of 358 and 223 for a 481 series, and Mariotti bowled games of 235 and 216 for a 451 series. Bibee (games of 190, 252) and Fogarty (234, 208) each had a 442 series for the Tars. Blake Rowell bowled games of 247 and 214 for a 461 series for Port Huron. Anchor Bay will compete in the Bowl Swami's 2012 Motor City Team Challenge held at Imperial Lanes on Saturday. Anchor Bay’s record is 3-3 overall.

Stephanie Krauss had games of 171 and 211 for a 382 series for Port Huron Northern. The Anchor Bay boys bowling team lost to Sterling Heights 17-13. Anchor Bay boys bowling team defeated Port Huron Northern on Wednesday.
Anchor Bay’s boys bowling team defeated Port Huron Northern 28-2 on Wednesday thanks to strong performances by Shawn Bibee and Jon Fogarty. Bibee led Anchor Bay with games of 224 and 225 for a 449 series, and Fogarty bowled games of 223 and 225 for a 448. Sean Mariotti also shined with games of 194 and 252 for a 446 series as Anchor Bay improved its record to 2-2. Sebastian Freeman had games of 192 and 237 for Port Huron Northern. Anchor Bay girls bowling team defeats Port Huron.
Marian Faszczewski led Anchor Bay’s girls bowling team to a 27-3 victory over Port Huron on Thursday. Faszczewski had a 196-170—366 for the Tars, and Kayla Gregoire had a game of 183 for Anchor Bay. The Anchor Bay boys bowling team competed against Clintondale in an unofficial match. Shane Barthlow led the Tars with a 243-226—469, and Sean Mariotti had a 247-217—464. Trevor Hyslop bowled a personal-best 237 game. Arrek Taylor had a 218 for Clintondale, which was competing in the first-ever bowling match for the school. Tars edge Chippewa Valley, but boys bowling team falls.
The Anchor Bay girls bowling team remained undefeated with a dramatic 16-15 victory over Chippewa Valley on Monday. Anchor Bay edged the Big Reds in a roll-off, 98-97, to improve its overall record to 3-0. Mariah Faszczewski recorded the top score for the Tars with a 193-222—415. Kristin Tyll had a 197 for Anchor Bay. The high scorer for Chippewa Valley was Sunshrae Heller with a 185-207—392. The Anchor Bay boys bowling team lost to Chippewa Valley 23-7. Shawn Bibee posted a 190-268—458, and Brandon Alexander had a 211-221—432 for the Tars. Zach Soldan had a 233 game, and Shane Barthlow had a 236 for Anchor Bay. The Tars play Clintondale on Thursday. It's literally bowling in miniature. The lane is shorter and the ball is about the size of a grapefruit. Rules are the same, I believe. It's more geared toward children and those who may have trouble playing the slightly more strenuous full-size version (back problems, seniors, etc.).   more ›
