Macomb County voters will take to the polls Aug. 7 to determine who will advance to the Nov. 6 general election. Below are the positions up for election and the candidates who are seeking office: Sheriff Anthony Wickersham and challenger Greg Stone comprise the Democrat and most recognizable candidates for lead law enforcement role. Republicans Kristi Dean, Bryan Ede, Roland Fraschetti, Steve Thomas and Todd Woodcox round out the Republican candidates. Democrat Darcy Jakubowski will try to unseat longtime Clerk Carmella Sabaugh, also a Democrat, in the primary election to eventually face Republican Debera Guenther in November. Jan Uglis became a Certified Municipal Clerk earlier this summer.
Chesterfield Township Clerk Jan Uglis accomplished a longtime goal this summer when she became a Certified Municipal Clerk. Her three-year studies, along with credits for real-life experience, led to the title from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks in California. "I'm very proud of myself, I really am," Uglis, 65, said. "It was something that I really wanted to do." She credits the township board and her staff for their support while she worked tirelessly on her certification that involved classes in Frankenmuth and Mount Pleasant.
