Miller Among 8 Michigan Reps Recognized for Pro-Manufacturing Votes in Congress

Candice Miller, who represents Michigan's 10th congressional district will receive the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) Award for Manufacturing Legislative Excellence Monday.

In recognition of her legislative support for American manufacturing, U.S. Rep. Candice Miller will receive a bipartisan award from the nation’s largest industrial trade association on Monday. Miller, who represents Michigan's 10th congressional district is due to receive the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) Award for Manufacturing Legislative Excellence.  This award honors members of the Congress for their leadership and work supporting U.S. manufacturers who drive economic growth, job creation and prosperity. Political Group Holds Prayer Vigil for Unemployed Workers Thursday At Rep. Miller's Office

A demonstration will be held Thursday at Rep. Candice Miller's Shelby Township office to urge members of the congress to vote in favor of extending unemployment benefits beyond Dec. 31.

Poll: Is Pizza a Vegetable?

According to Congress, pizza sauce will still be counted as a vegetable in school lunches after members blocked a proposed overhaul of the nation's school lunch program. What do you think?

Does pizza count as a vegetable? According to Congress, it does. Congress on Monday blocked an overhaul to the nation's school lunch program that would have cut the amount of potatoes served and would have changed the way schools get credit for serving vegetables only counting tomato paste on a slice of pizza if more than a quarter-cup of it was used, according to a story in The New York Times. The new regulations would also have cut in half the amount of sodium in school meals over the next 10 years. “While it is unfortunate that some in Congress chose to bow to special interests, U.S.D.A. remains committed to practical, science-based standards for school meals that improve the health of our children,” the U.S. Agriculture Department said…

The Livonia congressman announced his presidential campaign and played guitar at the Whitmore Lake festival Saturday.

U.S. Rep Thaddeus McCotter (R-Livonia) made his message loud and clear Saturday when he announced he was seeking a bid for the White House. The congressman announced before a crowd of a few hundred people Saturday that he is in the race for president of the United States — then brought out his American flag-themed guitar to play some bluesy rock music at the Freedom Festival at Whitmore Lake, sponsored by conservative talk radio station WAAM-AM (1600).
