New Haven Reduces $851,000 Budget Deficit by $130,000
The reduction was made possible by cuts in administration, a new teacher contract and increased enrollment.
A new deficit plan for New Haven Community Schools promises a 16-percent reduction in the budget deficit, which had been estimated at more than $851,000 earlier this year. School officials presented the New Haven school board with the new plan at a special meeting this week. “Due to cuts in administration, a new teacher contract, increased enrollment and sound financial decisions, the deficit has been reduced by almost $130,000,” said Bob Randlett, who works with the business departments of both New Haven and L’Anse Creuse, in a release. It's interesting to read this. I don't live in Michigan anymore, but I attended New Haven High School in the early 70s. I left in my tenth grade year. I was in the band. Sad to read here that band had been eliminated. I was also in the ski club because that was about the only other extracurricular activity offered, other than sports.
