Woman Arrested on St. Patrick's Day for Child Endangerment

The Lenox Township woman was stopped by Macomb County Sheriff's deputies in Chesterfield Township.

A 32-year-old Lenox Township woman was arrested Sunday on suspicion of child endangerment and operating under the influence of drugs in Chesterfield Township, according to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office. The arrest took place around 8:30 p.m. on St. Patrick's Day in the Gratiot and 24 Mile area. During that time, deputies pulled over the woman for erratic driving. Once they approached the car, they noticed two children--ages 2 and 4--unrestrained in the back of the vehicle, Lt. John Michalke of the Sheriff's Office said. Deputies said the woman smelled of marijuana and she told them she is a medical marijuana cardholder. Car Stolen From Walmart Parking Lot in Chesterfield and More

A 2002 Dodge Stratus owner reported to police that her car was stolen around 1 p.m. Feb. 2 while she shopped at Walmart on Marketplace Boulevard, according to Chesterfield Township police. Security footage of the parking lot shows a man get into her car and drive off. Police were investigating the incident. A Chesterfield Township home owner opened his garage around 5:40 a.m. Feb. 2 to find someone attempting to steal his tools at the 29000 block of Private Drive, according to police. The would-be-thief fled the garage and drove off in a teal Chevy S-10. Anyone with information is asked to call township police. Male Body Parts Painted on Garage, Hot Dogs Suspected as Pit Bull Bait, BMW Hit-and-Run

A resident in Zachary Court reported to police that sometime after midnight Dec. 16, someone spray painted a male body part on her garage door with black paint. There are no suspects at this time, police say. A Chesterfield resident reported to police that shortly after 4:30 p.m. Dec. 16, a BMW rear-ended his vehicle while he was stopped at the light on 23 Mile at Waterside Drive. The driver of the BMW fled the scene, according to police. The accident caused minor damage to the rear bumper of the victim's car, police say. Police say they are looking for a dark grey BMW with possible license plate combinations CR310 or CRY310. I witnessed a recent incident when a number of cars, including a BMW, Mercedes and an Audi were spray painted in one of the public parking areas in my neighborhood. The suspect has not been identified because, apparently, the surveillance camera did not properly capture incident because of the overgrown leaves of the tree that hindered the line of sight of the camera. Christmas Display Damaged, Paintballs Fired at Garage, Lights Knocked from Sign

Someone damaged a holiday display last Saturday night on Bower Drive in Chesterfield Township, police said. The home owner reported that a six-foot extension cord that was the power source for several lawn decorations was cut. Another cord used for a separate decoration was missing a four-inch section, the report stated. No suspects were known at the time. Two main signs were damaged last weekend in the Meadows At Anchor Bay complex off Jefferson, New Baltimore police said this week. Between the night of Nov. 23 and the morning Nov. 24, lights were destroyed by a rock and others were ripped out. The estimated damage was around $350, the report stated. Steroid-Carrying Driver Rages at Arrest, Mexico City Money Scam, Flaming Chair on Railroad

The following information was supplied by New Baltimore and Chesterfield Township police. Where arrests are noted, they do not indicate convictions.

A con artist claiming to be a police officer from Mexico City tried to get an 86-year-old Chesterfield Township woman to wire him $1,850 via Western Union, according to an Oct. 30 police report. The caller told the woman that her nephew was under arrest in Mexico and, if she didn't send the money, he would be imprisoned for a long time. The would-be thief instructed her not to tell her family because her nephew didn't want them to know, police said. When the woman went to Walmart at 45400 Marketplace to wire the money, the employees there suspected it was a scam and notified police. They called the number that was given to the woman and someone answered the phone by stating it was the American Embassy in Mexico. After the employees hung up…

Driver Allegedly Dumpster Dives For Pills, Crashes Into Motorcyclist

A 32-year-old man who crashed into a motorcyclist in New Baltimore was in possession of multiple illegal prescription pills, police said. At approximately 4:45 p.m. Sept. 28, the GMC truck driver was seen by other motorists swerving before changing lanes at the same time as a Harley Davidson driver on Green Street north of County Line and crashing into the motorcycle. The impact caused the motorcyclist to get thrown about 15 feet from his bike, fracturing his left foot, according to a New Baltimore police report. When approaching the truck driver, the officer noticed him slurring words with pinpoint pupils indicating drug use. He admitted to having two Vicodin pills in his vehicle. Thief Siphons Gasoline from Vehicle Overnight

An increasingly expensive commodity--gasoline--was sought by a thief, or multiple thieves, during an overnight crime in New Baltimore. On Aug. 25, a resident contacted police to report all the gas had been siphoned out of his vehicle tank on his property in the Green Street area, according to a police report. Police processed the vehicle gas lid for fingerprints, but the surface was dirty and there was dried mud in the finger-lift area. No suspects were known at the time, the report said. Sewer Drain Covers Lifted from New Baltimore Construction Site

The recent theft is the second one of its kind at the Family Dollar property.

For the second time, several sewer drain lids were snatched from a New Baltimore construction site, police said. Five covers, valued at approximately $1,200, were reported missing from the Family Dollar site on Green Street next to CVS. The lids were dropped off at the property Aug. 16, just days after the first set of covers were stolen, according to a police report. The lids had been placed at the front of the construction site about 15-20 feet away from Green Street. Police are investigating the thefts. Read more crime briefs here.
