'Fast-Moving Storm' With Freezing Rain, Snow to Hit New Baltimore Area Friday

The sun is shining brightly over New Baltimore and Chesterfield Township today, but a wintry mix is predicted starting late Thursday night.

In the battle of spring vs. winter this week in New Baltimore and Chesterfield Township, winter is about to take the lead. Forecasters from the National Weather Service are calling for a chance of snow and freezing drizzle overnight. A "Hazardous Weather Statement" issued Thursday calls for a the freezing rain to develop after midnight in areas north of I-94, including parts of Macomb County.  There is a 90 percent chance of snow and freezing rain on Friday. "A fast-moving storm system will bring accumulating snowfall late Friday afternoon through Friday night," the statement reads. "Confidence is increasing in appreciable snowfall in the 2 to 4-inch range across much of the area." Macomb County Under Winter Weather Advisory, Freezing Rain-Snow Mix Possible

A winter weather advisory will remain in effect from 7 p.m. Sunday to 6 a.m. Monday.

A nasty mix of snow and freezing rain is headed for Macomb County Sunday night, which could make for a slippery morning commute, according to National Weather Service reports.  Macomb County has been put under a winter weather advsiory from 7 p.m. Sunday through 6 a.m. Monday.  A mix of snow and freezing rain is expected to fall during the night, with 1 to 2 inches of snow possible by morning. Although temperatures will climb above freezing during the night, ice is possible.  The rain is expected to continue throughout the day Monday, with areas of fog likely after 10 a.m. as temperatures climb into the high 40s.
