Lake St. Clair Metropark Golf Course Open

Golfers can now take to the links of Lake St. Clair Metropark golf course, weather permitting.

The par-3 golf course at Lake St. Clair Metropark is now open for play, weather permitting. The course, which also features a putting green, is open for play from 8 a.m. until dusk.  Rates are $6 for weekdays, $7 for weekends and holidays. Seniors, 62 and over, and juniors, 20 and under, is $5 Monday through Friday, holidays not included.  For more information, or to schedule tee times, contact Lake St. Clair Metropark at 586-463-4581, or go to www.metroparks.com.

L'Anse Creuse North Golf Team Defeats Lakeview

The Crusaders defeat Lakeview 149-158 in high school golf match at St. Clair Shores Country Club.

The L'Anse Creuse North golf team defeated Lakeview 149-158 in a match at St. Clair Shores Country Club on Thursday afternoon, according to the Lakeview Athletics Twitter account. Fred Leduc, Nick Greenfelder and Zach Woelkers led L'Anse Creuse North as each shot a nine-hole round of 37. Trevor Frye added a 38 for the Crusaders. Tom Garbe shot a 34 to lead Lakeview. Danny Schwarzwalder had a 38, Billy Frattine had 42 and Jeff Jasezak had a 44 for the Huskies. Other members of the L'Anse Creuse North golf team include Pete Parski and David Clausen. Coaches, athletic directors and parents may submit results, highlights and photos by emailing jenny.whalen@patch.com.

Anchor Bay Golf Defeats Lakeview

Dan Blair leads Anchor Bay golf team to victory over Lakeview at Salt River.

Anchor Bay’s golf team edged Lakeview 161-163 at Salt River Golf Course on Thursday. Dan Blair led Anchor Bay with a nine-hole round of 38 on the par-35 course. Korey Constantine shot a 39, and Alex Blair and Nick Bruce each shot a 42 for the Tars. Luke Trocchio carded a 38 for the low score for Lakeview. Tom Garbe and Alex Rovda each shot a 41, and Danny Schwarzwalder had a 43 for the Huskies.

Parks and Rec Partners with TGA for Double the Golf

Golf classes for adult women and children will be taught simultaneously this winter at the Macomb Township Rec Center.

When you feel you have mastered Wii Golf and feel ready to trade in your controller for a real club, the Macomb Township Parks and Recreation Department has you covered. The department is partnering with TGA–Premier Junior Golf to offer two classes–one for children and one for adult women–simultaneously this winter. “The primary goal of TGA is the kids,” said Michelle Duda, Parks and Recreation program director. “I think they saw a need and wanted to accommodate the moms with an option beside sitting on the bench waiting for their child. We just happened to have the space available to offer this option.” The six-week class starts Jan. 22.
