Two men were arrested Tuesday after one of them allegedly pointed a handgun at another driver during a road rage incident in Macomb Township, police said Thursday. At approximately 6:47 p.m., Macomb County Sheriff's deputies said they were called to the Hall and Hayes area after a motorist reported someone waved a handgun at him. They pulled over a 19-year-old Shelby Township man and his 20-year-old passenger from Virginia Beach, VA in the Hayes and 21 Mile area. When deputies approached the GMC Denali, they smelled marijuana. The men denied having a handgun, but when deputies searched the vehicle, they found a .40 caliber Smith and Wesson in the center console, the Sheriff's Office reports. Surrounded by miniature chocolate versions of himself, the Easter Bunny will stop by Morley Candy Factory this weekend for a brief meet-and-greet with his adoring fans. The Hall Road store will host Peter Cottontail Saturday and Sunday (March 16-17) from noon to 4 p.m. The event is free, but guests should bring their own camera or phone for photos. Comcast will hold a grand opening celebration Saturday at the new 3,600 square-foot Xfinity customer center in Macomb Township that will include a former Red Wing and the Tigers mascot. Former Detroit Red Wing Tomas Homstrom and Tigers mascot Paws will participate in the festivities at the center which allows Comcast customers to pay a bill, service their equipment and interact with new products and services. The celebration runs from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. at the Xfinity Customer Center at 17613 Hall Road, Macomb Township. Comcast has opened an interactive 3,600-square-foot Xfinity Customer Center in Macomb Township. The facility, which is the company's second customer center in Macomb County, is the first of its kind in Michigan.
Comcast opened a new Xfinity Customer Center in Macomb Township Monday that allows customers to pay bills, exchange equipment but also experience the company's products on iPads, laptops and large-screen televisions. The new 3,600-square-foot facility is located at 17613 Hall Road and utilizes technology to serve customers. Inside the center there is a self-service kiosk to pay bills, an electronic queuing system for check-in, along with displays of 3D cable service, iPad apps and the company's home security system. These features are set in a comfortable seating areas that feature sofas and chairs set around the informational kiosks. Plans are underway for the vacant parcel between Hall Road and 21 Mile.
A new hotel is expected this year along an expansive stretch of Interstate 94 in Chesterfield Township, according to the land owner. The Marriott hotel chain signed a contract to build on the vacant parcel between 21 Mile and Hall Road, said Thomas Guastello, President of Center Management in Birmingham. "They're debating on exactly what Marriott brand to do. It could be a Courtyard," Guastello said Wednesday of the preliminary plans. A ground-breaking is anticipated in spring for the hotel with approximately 100 rooms. Company representatives are in talks with the community but no official site plans have been submitted to the township yet, he said. The owner of Parkway Chrysler on Hall Road gifted Officer Patrick O'Rourke's widow with a fully-equipped 2013 Town and Country Thursday.
The outpouring of support for the family of slain West Bloomfield police Officer Patrick O'Rourke continued Thursday in Clinton Township, where the owner of a local car dealership presented O'Rourke's widow with a new set of wheels, Local 4 reports. Mike Riley, the owner of Parkway Chrysler on Hall Road, told Local 4 that after meeting Amy O'Rourke at a fundraiser in her husband's honor, he knew he had to help in some way. On Thursday, Riley and his staff presented Amy with a fully-equipped 2013 Town and Country. "It's one of those things that you can't ever make the world right for somebody but you can help make it better," Riley told Local 4. A new business owned by a Chesterfield woman is moving into Clinton Township and its focus is family fun. Clinton Township’s Board of Trustees approved The Memory Room this week to move into the storefront at 20690 Hall Road, located in the Pointe Village Square shopping mall at the southeast corner of Hall and Heydenreich roads. The Memory Room is the brainchild of Dana-Marie Serio, an accountant by day and DJ by night. A combination family arcade and banquet center, The Memory Room is designed to serve two different purposes for one key audience – middle class families who have a limited budget for entertainment. Construction kicks off on M-59 between Van Dyke to Hall Road today.
If you're planning on heading out this beautiful Michigan weekend, take a look at construction projects that will be kicking off today and throughout the week. The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will begin pavement repair projects month on sections of M-59 in Macomb County and I-75 in Oakland County . Both projects are expected to be completed in mid-September.
