The Dec. 15 series will feature match-ups between the varsity boys and girls basketball squads of L'Anse Creuse, L'Anse Creuse North, Cardinal Mooney and Richmond high schools.
As an educator and coach, former L’Anse Creuse High School North Principal Dave Jackson was a strong supporter of students. Although Jackson passed away last February, his memory and unwavering support promises to live on through a scholarship fund established in his name. “I think anyone you talk to will tell you about his great character,” said LCN varsity boys basketball coach Jay Seletsky. “He walked the walk, got his hands dirty and supported everybody. His impact was bigger than even education as a whole. Macomb Township’s L’Anse Creuse North Crusaders take on the rival L’Anse Creuse High School Lancers tonight at 7 p.m. in Harrison Township in what may be the biggest game of the year for both teams. The Crusaders and Lancers have identical 3-2 records and both are coming off victories, with the Crusaders beating Utica last week 13-7 and the Lancers winning against Anchor Bay 28-24. L'Anse Creuse North celebrated its 2012 homecoming with a parade of floats, court reception, football game and dance.
Hundreds of current and former Crusaders filled the L'Anse Creuse North stadium Sept. 21 to celebrate the school's 2012 homecoming. The varsity football team defeated Anchor Bay 28-14. Macomb County's elected officials took on Crusader coaches and alumni Sunday night as part of the school's Midnight Madness kickoff to the 2012 football season.
The game may or may not have been rigged, but it was Team Hackel for the win when Macomb County elected officials took on L'Anse Creuse North coaches and alumni Sunday night in a fund-raiser game for the Crusaders 2012 football season. Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel, Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham, Macomb County Prosecutor Eric Smith and Macomb County Commissioner Bob Smith were only a few of the county officials to participate in the school's first-ever Midnight Madness celebration. Alec Waiter, Zach Joyce and Eddie Komph qualified for the Division 1 state track and field finals in East Kentwood on June 2.
Three members of the Anchor Bay boys track and field team will compete at the Division 1 state finals on Saturday, June 2, in East Kentwood, according to the MHSAA. Alec Waiter, Zach Joyce and Eddie Komph all qualified for the state track meet after their performances at the regional meet on Friday, May 18, at Warren Mott. Joyce won the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.40 seconds; Waiter finished second in the 300 intermediate hurdles with a time of 40.70 seconds; and Komph placed second in the 3,200 run with a time of 9:47.60. Anchor Bay finished sixth in the team standings at the regional. Sterling Heights Stevenson won the meet with 108.5 points.
