It's that time of year again when moms and dads dress their little ones up in their finest Sunday clothes and takes them to the mall to get their annual photo with Santa. The day begins fresh and happy for most parents, but ends sweaty and exhaustive for parents with little ones who are just downright frightened by the Jolly Old Soul in a red velvet suit and a long white beard. The Christmas spirit took over downtown New Baltimore.
Santa's magic spread across New Baltimore Monday night during the annual Christmas tree-lighting ceremony. Unseasonably warm December weather helped lure hundreds of holiday revelers to Washington Street for the event. John Dupray of Bay-Rama and Mayor Larry Smith spoke before the towering tree donated by resident Duane Breidert was lit. The New Baltimore Civic Club spruced up the Blue Spruce after raising money for updated decor, such as LED lights. Local students, many New Baltimore and Chesterfield Township residents, sang Christmas songs during the festivities. View upcoming events at the historical museum in downtown New Baltimore.
Grand Pacific House Museum will host two popular annual events this December. The open house will be held from 3-6 p.m. Dec. 9. The museum will offer tours, tea, coffee and dessert. The event is free and open to the public. The open house is on the same day as the Jingle Bell Run, also in the city's downtown.
