Three L'Anse Creuse Schools were closed Tuesday after a report of a suspicious person in L'Anse Creuse High School.
Classes were canceled Tuesday morning at three L'Anse Creuse after a person in military gear was seen in L'Anse Creuse High School, according to a report by WJBK-TV. L'Anse Creuse High School, L'Anse Creuse Middle School-Central and Graham Elementary were all closed as the Macomb County Sheriff's Office investigated the report. High school students en route to the school via bus transported to a “safe location” until the decision was made to close the school, according to Kelly Allen, director for Public and Community Relations. Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham told the television station that the man was a 21-year-old former student and airman at Selfridge Air National Guard Base. Staff sprouting Fu Manchu’s and ZZ Top’s raise well over $4,000 for charity.
Male staff at L’Anse Creuse North and L'Anse Creuse High School skipped shaving during the month of November and raised well over $4,000 for the L’Anse Creuse Foundation and the Link Crew program at their schools. Students donated in the name of their favorite hairy teacher, while other staff helped raise money for the best-loved beard. It was the first time the two schools have participated in this bewhiskered fundraiser. The L’Anse Creuse Foundation will be using the funds to help with teacher grants for special projects and for student scholarships.
