A parole absconder with a lengthy rap sheet has rejected a plea deal and is forging ahead with a trial for a violent robbery in Chesterfield Township, his lawyer said Wednesday. Roland Lee Moore Jr., 36, could face up to life in prison if convicted of armed robbery and assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder. Moore turned down a deal calling for him to face between 12 and 23 years, defense attorney Randy Rodnick said. The move would have paved the way for him to possibly receive the lighter end of the sentence in exchange for the guilty plea. A final pretrial hearing has been set for a Chesterfield Township resident accused of embezzling thousands of dollars from a St. Clair Shores senior suffering from dementia.
A pre-trial hearing in Macomb Circuit Court was adjourned Monday for a 26-year-old Chesterfield Township woman charged with embezzling thousands of dollars from an elderly St. Clair Shores man. Kellie Todd and co-defendant Fredine Walker are caretakers accused of stealing more than a combined total of $80,000 from William Abke, a 73-year-old wheelchair-bound resident who is suffering from dementia. Todd is charged with embezzlement of a vulnerable adult—a five-year felony. Walker, who pleaded guilty to two counts of embezzlement of a vulnerable adult, was sentenced in March by Macomb Circuit Court Judge Edward Servitto to a maximum of 10 years in prison for embezzling tens of thousands of dollars from the elderly St. Clair Shores man. The trial against a Clinton Township man accused of biting off his wife's eyelid continues in Macomb Circuit Court.
The 33-year-old Clinton Township man accused of biting off his wife's eyelid in a Mother's Day assault took the stand in his defense Macomb Circuit Court. Rahsaan Thedford was called to testify by his attorney, Robert Vandenbroucke, on the second day of testimony in his assault with intent to maim case. Thedford, dressed in casual clothes including jeans and gym shoes, stated the incident occurred early May 8 after he was awoken by his wife. The couple had been arguing earlier in the evening before returning to their St. Clair Shores home. Thedford said that he awoke as he was being struck by her. "It is kind of a strobe light of events," he said on the stand about the events of the evening. "I never bit her eyelid. I bit her eyebrow." …
