Lumber Jack at 35369 23 Mile will welcome Santa Claus Nov. 23.
From sleighs to fire trucks, Santa fancies all sorts of transportation in Chesterfield Township and New Baltimore. But helicopter is his first choice Nov. 23, as he plans to land at Lumber Jack on 23 Mile in New Baltimore to a crowd of more than 100 kids and adults. The popular free event is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the grounds of the lumber and hardware retailer. After children catch a glimpse of St. Nick's landing, they will be able to sit and talk to him, get their faces painting and enjoy cookies and cider. Families are advised to dress warmly, said Denise Smith, manager of the New Baltimore Lumber Jack store. A New Baltimore man accused of fleeing the scene of a fatal crash was driving under the influence on a suspended license, police said Wednesday. James Gill, 40, was charged Tuesday in 72nd District Court in Marine City with operating while intoxicated causing death, driving while license suspended causing death, leaving the scene of a serious injury accident and third-offense operating while intoxicated, according to the St. Clair County Sheriff's Office.
