McDonald's For MacDonald Library Fundraiser is March 19

Support the New Baltimore library at the local fast-food restaurant.

MacDonald Public Library is partnering with McDonald’s in New Baltimore for a fund-raiser this month. From 4-7 p.m. March 19, 10 percent of purchases at the fast-food restaurant at 35899 Green Street will benefit the library. For more information, visit the library website.

Chesterfield Township Man Pleads Guilty to McDonald's Stabbing, Robbery

Roland Lee Moore Jr. was scheduled to face trial Tuesday in Macomb County Circuit Court.

A Chesterfield Township man pleaded guilty Tuesday to charges he robbed and stabbed a McDonald's customer in the drive-thru lane last winter. Roland Lee Moore Jr., 36, pleaded to one count of assault with great bodily harm less than murder and armed robbery before Macomb Circuit Judge David Viviano, according to court records. The plea took place on the first day of his scheduled trial in Mount Clemens and followed his initial rejection of a deal last month. Under the agreement, Moore is to serve between 12 and 25 years, the records show. He faced up to life imprisonment upon conviction of the charges. He is scheduled for sentencing at 9 a.m. Feb. 26. Trial Slated This Week for Alleged McDonald's Stabber

Roland Lee Moore Jr., of Chesterfield Township, is scheduled for trial Jan. 29 in Macomb County Circuit Court in Mount Clemens.

A trial for a parole absconder accused of stabbing and robbing a fast-food customer in Chesterfield Township is scheduled to begin Tuesday. Roland Lee Moore Jr. faces up to life in prison if convicted of armed robbery and assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder for the Jan. 31, 2012 attack in the McDonald's restaurant at 23 Mile near Interstate 94. During the incident, a woman in the drive-thru lane was stabbed in the hand and her belongings were stolen. Moore turned down a deal calling for him to face between 12 and 23 years, his defense attorney Randy Rodnick said in early December.  That move would have paved the way for him to possibly receive the lighter end of the sentence in exchange for the guilty plea, but …

A parole absconder with a lengthy rap sheet has rejected a plea deal and is forging ahead with a trial for a violent robbery in Chesterfield Township, his lawyer said Wednesday. Roland Lee Moore Jr., 36, could face up to life in prison if convicted of armed robbery and assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder. Moore turned down a deal calling for him to face between 12 and 23 years, defense attorney Randy Rodnick said. The move would have paved the way for him to possibly receive the lighter end of the sentence in exchange for the guilty plea. Trial Date Set for Alleged McDonald's Stabber

Roland Lee Moore Jr. is scheduled for trial in October in Macomb Circuit Court in Mount Clemens.

The suspect in a violent McDonald's drive-thru robbery in Chesterfield is heading to trial this fall in Macomb County Circuit Court. Roland Lee Moore Jr., 35, was arrested in February following a multiday-manhunt. He is slated to appear before Judge David Viviano Oct. 2 in the Mount Clemens court for trial. New Baltimore's Citizen and Business of the Year to Be Honored at Special Awards Dinner

New Baltimore resident Tom Hepp and a local McDonald's will receive honors.

New Baltimore's most dedicated member of its community and a local outstanding business will be honored Thursday at the annual Citizen & Business of the Year Dinner at Cedar Glen Golf Course. Longtime resident Tom Hepp, who is a volunteer for the Bay-Rama Fishfly Committee and a member of the Parks & Recreation Commission, will be recognized for his commitment to the city.
