New Baltimore Driver Crashes into Four Pedestrians

Three Ira Township women were taken to a Mount Clemens hospital. A baby was checked for injuries at the accident scene.

A 50-year-old New Baltimore driver crashed into four people, including a small child, Sunday night in Ira Township, police said Monday. Three of the pedestrians--women, ages 44, 43 and 22, all of Ira Township--were taken to McLaren Macomb Hospital in Mount Clemens following the crash. A 1-year-old child inside a stroller was checked for injuries at the accident scene, the St. Clair County Sheriff's Office stated. The women's conditions were not immediately released. The accident took place around 8:30 p.m. Sunday when the New Baltimore woman headed southbound on Bethuy Road north of Dixie Highway. Her vehicle came around a curve, striking the individuals walking along a fog line, the Sheriff's Office said.  "The driver states that she did …

Trial Date Set for Alleged McDonald's Stabber

Roland Lee Moore Jr. is scheduled for trial in October in Macomb Circuit Court in Mount Clemens.

The suspect in a violent McDonald's drive-thru robbery in Chesterfield is heading to trial this fall in Macomb County Circuit Court. Roland Lee Moore Jr., 35, was arrested in February following a multiday-manhunt. He is slated to appear before Judge David Viviano Oct. 2 in the Mount Clemens court for trial. Follow us on Facebook Moore, a parole absconder, is charged with assault with attempt to do great bodily harm less than murder and armed robbery. He could face up to life in prison if convicted. His lawyer Randy Rodnick said Friday he is awaiting the outcome of DNA evidence testing. L'Anse Creuse North Gym Dedicated to Beloved Principal Dave Jackson

The memory of Dave Jackson will live on in Crusader Nation, specifically in the newly renamed Jackson Gymnasium.

The L'Anse Creuse High School North community lost a beloved principal and coach with the passing of Dave Jackson last year, but the school has found a way to ensure the man who touched so many lives in the classroom and on the court is never forgotten. Kid Rock Helps Surprise Local Vet With New Home in Macomb County

Operation Finally Home will build Army Sgt. Davin Dumar a home in Macomb Township in thanks for his service and sacrifice.

A Mount Clemens soldier and his family will soon have a new home in Macomb Township courtesy of Operation Finally Home. Dan Wallrath, the founder of Operation Finally Home, Pulte Group representatives and music megastar Kid Rock joined together Aug. 18 to present Army Sgt. Davin Dumar with a free new home, according to The Detroit News. Operation Finally Home provides custom made mortgage free homes to wounded and disabled veterans and the widows of the fallen. The organization has built 50 homes in 11 states, with the Dumars selected to receive one of the latest. Kid Rock joined the surprise to offer his own thanks to Dumar for his service. Dumar, a Lutheran North alumnus, lost a leg and injured his arm during a tour in Afghanistan in …

Weekend Construction to Close Multiple Lanes on Hall Road Between I-94 and Van Dyke

Both sides of Hall Road will be under construction this weekend, with eastbound sections closing Sunday and westbound sections remaining closed Saturday night through Tuesday morning.

If you're planning to drive Hall Road or I-94 this weekend, brace yourself for multiple lane closures, or plan detours in advance. Van Dyke to Hayes The right two lanes of eastbound Hall Road will be closed from Van Dyke to Hayes from 9 p.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Tuesday for pavement repairs. I-94 to Card Road The right two lanes of westbound Hall Road will be closed from I-94 to Card Road from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday for maintenance. Gratiot Avenue in Mount Clemens Northbound Gratiot Avenue will be reduced to a single lane from Cass Avenue to Market Street from 7 a.m. Saturday until 5 p.m. Sunday for ongoing road work. Ford, UAW Kick in Remainder of 'Heart of America' War Memorial Tab

The "Heart of America" war memorial in Mount Clemens will be unveiled Sunday.

Ford Motor Company and United Auto Workers Local 400 of Shelby Township have kicked in the remaining costs for the "Heart of America" memorial in Mount Clemens. The 9-foot solid granite, 7,000-pound sculpture will be unveiled at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in front of the Macomb County Administration Building on Cass Avenue at Northbound Gratiot in Mount Clemens. Shelby Township Veterans Coordinator Phil Randazzo initiated the project more than 10 years ago, and has collected over $50,000 in donations from private donors to pay for the memorial. And at the 11th hour, UAW 400 along with Ford CEO Alan Mulally endorsed the project and agreed to pay the remaining balance.  Randazzo would not say how much Ford and the UAW paid, but he said it was a …

Accused Mount Clemens Fireworks Shooter to Have Prelim Exam This Month

An 18-year-old Warren man accused of shooting another man at the Mount Clemens fireworks will have a preliminary exam this month. Demitrus Ludaway is scheduled for a preliminary exam at 8:30 a.m. July 16 at 41B District Court in Clinton Township before Judge Linda Davis, according to the court. Ludaway faces charges of assault with intent to murder, armed robbery and felony firearm, police said. He was lodged in Macomb County Jail in lieu of a $75,000 cash/surety bond. Around 10:35 p.m. Friday, several eyewitnesses say Ludaway shot a 19-year-old Detroit man in the leg in the area of North Main Street and Market, Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said.  The shooting followed a fight between Ludaway and the victim over a pair of …

Alleged Stars & Stripes Shooter to Face Felony Assault, Armed Robbery and Firearm Charges

Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham has identified Demitrus Marcellas Ludaway as the suspect who shot a Detroit man in the leg Friday at the Mount Clemens Stars & Stripes Festival.

The 18-year-old Warren man accused of shooting a Detroit resident at the Mount Clemens Stars & Stripes Festival Friday will face multiple felony charges this week, police say. Demitrus Marcellas Ludaway is facing charges of assault with intent to murder, armed robbery and felony firearm, according to police. He is currently being held in the Macomb County Jail on a $75,000 cash/surety bond and is expected to be arraigned Monday in 41B District Court in Clinton Township.
