Drivers Reminded to 'Share The Road' With Bicycles in Chesterfield Township, New Baltimore

May is National Bike Month in which the public is encouraged to keep cyclists' safety in mind.

With warm weather upon us, Macomb County drivers are encouraged to keep biker safety in mind. May is National Bike Month and this week is Bike to Work Week. Although the county claims trails for cyclists and runners, including a new path on County Line Road in New Baltimore, bikers' rights are also crucial alongside roads. New Baltimore to Celebrate New Harbor, Patrol Boat

Public boat docks and a patrol boat will be celebrated during June dedications.

New Baltimore will celebrate its new public boat docks and security patrol boat during two June ceremonies at Walter and Mary Burke Park. The events, at 11 a.m. June 17 and 4 p.m. June 18, mark a multi-agency effort formed by New Baltimore with the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office, Detroit-Wayne Port Authority and Department of Homeland Security/FEMA, according to New Baltimore Police Chief Tim Wiley. The harbor, which was constructed during winter, will include 10 finger docks allowing 16 boats. The docks will be along Anchor Bay in the so-called old beach area of the park near the water plant. The patrol boat aims to boost security on local waterways with help from city police reserves and by partnering with Macomb County Sheriff's Marine …

Chesterfield, New Baltimore Powerball Players Try Luck at $360 Million Jackpot

A winning ticket for Michigan Lottery's Powerball was sold in New Baltimore in 2012.

Michigan Lottery's Powerball players in the Chesterfield Township and New Baltimore area may have some extra luck on their side. According to information on the Michigan Lottery's Web site, lottery players in the Chesterfield Township area have struck large jackpots with tickets bought in recent years. In 2012, a Fantasy 5 ticket purchased at Meijer gas station had a $195,148 prize while another lucky player won $750,000 through the Life Time of Cash game, with a ticket bought at Scorecard Bar and Grill in late 2001.  New Baltimore's own $1-million Powerball winner at Kroger last year is a longtime Anchor Bay Schools educator. Other winning tickets in the city have brought as much as $250,000 at Kroger through Mega Millions in 2005, $175,…

Willy & Babbish is Hung Up on New Baltimore

The women's boutique opened this month on Washington Street in the city's downtown.

Female shoppers who prefer boutiques over big department stores have a new reason to come to downtown New Baltimore. Willy & Babbish Boutique, 51034 Washington Street, opened recently in the historic downtown, catering to women seeking accessories, clothes and home products. Fittingly for the shop near Anchor Bay, nautical-inspired merchandise is also on the rack, according to store owners and sisters Carrie and Jill Leger. The owners selected New Baltimore because they wanted shoppers to feel "like they were on a weekend getaway, exploring a whimsical little shop in some quaint up north town, without having to leave their backyard," Carrie Leger said.
