Macomb County native Angela Venditti is prepping for the Miss America Pageant.
After years of dreaming, and months of preparation, Miss Michigan Angela Venditti begins her journey today to be crowned Miss America. Venditti, of Shelby Township, was Miss St. Clair Shores when she was crowned Miss Michigan in June. Since the Miss Michigan Pageant in Muskegeon, she has been preparing for the Miss America Pageant Jan. 12 at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino. "It has been a whirlwind," said Venditti, who has traveled thousands of miles and covered nearly the entire state. "There has been a lot of planning for Miss America." Karmyn Moore was crowned Miss Chesterfield 2012 Friday night in the Anchor Bay Middle School South auditorium. Moore, a junior at Anchor Bay High School, was one of four girls competing in the 27th annual pageant. "It feels overwhelming," said Moore shortly after being crowned. "I didn't expect it. I feel shocked. I'm really happy." Moore plans on going into early childhood education once she graduates. Her hobbies include cooking, camping, hunting, paintball and cheerleading. She is also active in the community and has taken part in the Jingle Bell run and even won the local chili cook-off contest. The 'Miss Chesterfield' Pageant will be held Friday at 7 p.m. at Anchor Bay Middle School South.
Gowns, tiaras and a whole lot of glitter will grace the auditorium stage of Anchor Bay Middle School South on Friday evening as eight young ladies compete for the title of Miss Chesterfield. The annual event recognizes girls, ages 16-21, who are setting a positive example in the Chesterfield Township community. In order to qualify for the pageant, each girl was required to write a creative, 200-word essay on a topic of her choice, as well as attend a pre-interview with the judges. During the pageant Friday, the girls will model attire in the categories of sports, formal and everyday wear. They will also be asked one question by the judges. The overall winner will be crowned queen and receive $200, while two others will be named runners-up…

Contestants for Anchor Bay's Miss Bay-Rama should submit applications by 2 p.m. June 9.
Anchor Bay teenage girls with dreams of reigning over the Fishfly Festival have until 2 p.m. June 9 to submit entry forms. Miss Bay-Rama 2011 contestants will compete for the crown at 6:30 p.m. June 22 in the festival tent in downtown New Baltimore. The queen and her court will serve as ambassadors for the volunteer Bay-Rama organization and the Anchor Bay area during the unique Fishfly Festival as well as other community events. Pageant director Lisa Edwards of the Anchor Bay Chamber of Commerce said there were 12 girls in last year's pageant that named Nicole Socia, 19, of New Baltimore, the winner.
