Crime Blotter: Man Pretending to Shoot People in Library Banned for Unruly Behavior

Library user causes ruckus A 26-year-old Chesterfield Township man was banned from the township library late last month after he repeatedly threatened employees, cursed, hollered and made shooting motions at individuals, according to police. The man had been in the library on Patricia Avenue for four consecutive days, causing problems each time. When told he needed to follow the library rules, he responded that he did not need to follow the rules because "he was the police himself," the May 21 police report stated. Chesterfield Township police responded to the complaint about the man's behavior. When the officer arrived to the library, the suspect had left by bicycle. Chesterfield Township Man Arraigned on Drunken Driving Charges

The following arrest information was supplied by the Chesterfield Township Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Chesterfield Township man faces drunken driving charges after he was involved in an accident on Saturday, May 19, according to a press release from the Chesterfield Township Police Department. Ronald Gordon Ritchie, 32, was arraigned via video on charges of operating while intoxicated (third offense) and driving with a suspended license (second offense) on Monday at 42-2 District Court in New Baltimore. If convicted, the OWI is punishable by one to five years in prison. The driving with a suspended license is a one-year misdemeanor. Ritchie was involved in an accident at Cotton Road and Jefferson Avenue in Chesterfield Township on May 19, according to police. No one was injured in the accident. Chesterfield Township Man Faces Child Porn Charges

Gregory Francis Austin, a former teacher in the Fraser School District, allegedly had photos of minors on his cell phone.

A Chesterfield Township resident and former middle school teacher was charged with production, possession and receipt of child pornography on Monday. Gregory Francis Austin, a 32-year-old resident of Chesterfield Township and a former teacher in the Fraser School District, was arrested and charged Monday, United States Attorney Barbara L. McQuade announced in a press release. Austin, who had been employed by the Fraser School District as a band instructor since 2005 and became a classroom teacher in 2006 before leaving the district in March 2012, allegedly had images of 12 minors and students on his cell phone. Border patrol says there is "no danger to the public" as the agency continues its search for at least four people who fled border patrol officers Thursday morning in New Baltimore.

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection continues its search for at least four individuals who fled agents Thursday morning in the New Baltimore area. Though the search continues, the border patrol said there is “no danger to the public,” according to a press release. The individuals fled from a van pulled over on the side of the road at around 8 a.m. Thursday after they saw border patrol agents patrolling the area, according to the release. Border patrol agents and local law enforcement agencies assisted in the search, including border patrol K-9 units and air support from the Customs and Border Protection Office of Air and Marine. A helicopter could be seen hovering over the area between Washington and Ashley streets in New Baltimore. …

Chesterfield Township Police are asking for the public's help after someone took a safe containing more than $100,000 in inventory from Marquis Jewelers on 23 Mile Road.

Chesterfield Township police are investigating a burglary at Marquis Jewelers in which a safe containing more than $100,000 in inventory was stolen. The robbery at the store located at 34748 23 Mile Road in Chesterfield Township occurred sometime during the early morning hours of Monday, April 23, according to a police report. The owner of Marquis Jewelers arrived at his store at approximately 8:30 a.m. after receiving a notification that his alarm system had a power failure. Upon arrival, the owner discovered his business had been broken into and the safe—which was approximately 6 feet tall and weighed 2,700 pounds—had been stolen. Police Blotter: Speeding Drunken Driver Arrested on 22 Mile Road

The following information was supplied by the Macomb County Sheriff's Office. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

On April 18, at approximately 1:38 a.m., a Macomb County Sheriff's deputy registered a Chesterfield Township man driving 63 mph along a 45 mph stretch of 22 Mile Road in Macomb Township. The 45-year-old driver was pulled over in the area of Card Road and Emanuel Drive where he was asked to perform a series of sobriety tests. The man failed these tests and registered a blood alcohol content of .168 in his preliminary breath test, according to the police report. The man was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a high blood alcohol content and transported to the Macomb County Jail.
