Olive Garden 'Signs' Up Chesterfield Township

The restaurant chain plans to open in front of the Kohl's Department store on Gratiot near 23 Mile Road.

Plans for an Olive Garden restaurant are heating up in Chesterfield Township. After about a year of anticipating the chain eatery, township officials said Friday that Olive Garden sign requests will go before the planning commission Feb. 12 for approval. The signage submission is for property in front of the Kohl's Department store on Gratiot near 23 Mile, Planning Director Janice Giese said Friday. No official site plans have been submitted to build in the plaza, but the process could start by fall, Giese said. Chesterfield Township officials said they were eager for the Italian restaurant to come to town last year, but the business backed off plans soon after. The sign request is for the same location previously eyed for construction. …

Panera to Sell $1 Lemonade to Benefit Gleaners Food Bank

All proceeds from lemonade sales at area Panera Bread locations this Saturday will benefit Gleaners Community Food Bank.

The following information was submitted by Panera Bread. School’s out for summer, and more than 315,000 kids who usually get meals in school are home — and hungry. To help, metro Detroiters can “cool off with Panera” lemonade for $1 on July 21 to help combat childhood hunger in our community. Panera Bread is donating 100 percent of lemonade proceeds to Gleaners Community Food Bank’s Hunger Free Summer effort. Every $1 lemonade sold on July 21 will sponsor six summer meals. On July 21, Panera associates will be manning handmade and decorated lemonade stands outside of the cafes in the following cities: Lathrup Village, Livonia, West Bloomfield, Novi, Sterling Heights, Rochester Hills, Southfield, Troy, Farmington, Dearborn Heights, …

Drum Roll Please: The Winner of the Grub Crawl Ticket Contest is ...

One lucky reader and a friend will enjoy a free evening out at the 2012 Grub Crawl Wednesday night.

The winner of the 2012 Patch Spring Grub Crawl contest is Macomb Township resident Michael Schroeder. Schroeder and a friend will be gnashing on some free and delicious food April 25 at 10 Macomb County restaurants during the Sterling Heights Regional Chamber of Commerce-sponsored event. It's Grub Crawl Time: Enter to Win Free Tickets

Patch is giving away two free tickets to the Spring Grub Crawl.

It’s that time of year; when spring is in the air and the smell of gourmet food wafting from restaurants along the Hall Road corridor lures you in. Anchor Bay Tastefest Seeks Food Vendors

The annual food-lovers' event is scheduled for June 19 in downtown New Baltimore.

Delicious dishes--and food vendors who serve them--are sought for this summer's Anchor Bay Tastefest in downtown New Baltimore. Eight restaurants are needed to bring the total vendor amount to 15. There's no charge for vendors to join the family-friendly event overlooking Lake St. Clair, but participants must provide their own food. And, they're encouraged to put their best dishes forward, said Lisa Edwards, president of the Anchor Bay Chamber of Commerce. The chamber and Anchor Bay Community Foundation host the annual event that brought nearly 300 people to Burke Park last year. It will be held from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 19 at the same location this year. Restaurants do not need to be chamber members to be vendors. However, they must …

Metropolitan Cafe tops the Food Fight poll as the most romantic restaurant in Macomb County.

Looking for a romantic restaurant? Then try Metropolitan Cafe, which Patch users called the most romantic restaurant in Macomb County. Metropolitan Cafe, which is located at 52969 Van Dyke Ave. in Shelby Township, received 54 percent of the vote to win the Food Fight poll. Eastside Tavern in Mount Clemens finished second. Voting took place from Wednesday morning until Friday at 5 p.m. Congratulations, Metropolitan Cafe, and thanks to all who participated in the Food Fight by voting in the poll and leaving comments on the site.
