Woman Believed to Have Jumped from I-94 Overpass

Police said Wednesday they are investigating the death that took place on the highly traveled freeway in Chesterfield Township.

A 54-year-old New Haven woman apparently jumped to her death late Tuesday night from an Interstate 94 overpass, Chesterfield Township police said Wednesday. Slightly before midnight, a 57-year-old Roseville man driving a mini van called 911 to report he believed he struck a pedestrian on I-94 by the New Haven Road overpass. The motorist pulled over to give police information and said it's likely one or two other vehicles struck the woman in the westbound lanes but kept driving, township Detective Sgt. Deron Myers said. The woman, whose Ford pickup was parked on the shoulder by the New Haven Road overpass, did not leave a note. Her family was notified of her death, but her identity was not immediately released. Crews from the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality are taking soil samples at a home in Roseville following a tip that the former Teamsters boss Jimmy Hoffa may be buried under a cement slab.

Michigan Department of Environmental Quality personnel are drilling through a concrete slab at a home in Roseville to take soil samples to determine if a body —possibly missing Teamsters boss Jimmy Hoffa—is buried underneath a shed. The crews are taking the soil samples at the home located near Common and Gratiot, following a tip that a body was buried at the home. Accused Best Buy Thieves Caught in Chesterfield

Three Detroit men allegedly stole thousands of electronics from area Best Buy stores before their arrests in Chesterfield.

After stealing expensive merchandise from area Best Buy stores, three men were caught planning to snatch electronics in Chesterfield Township, police said. At approximately 2:30 p.m., township police responded to reports from the store at Waterside Marketplace that the suspects were "staging" pricey electronics by the front door to be stolen later, according to township Detective Sgt. Deron Myers. Police learned the trio allegedly took a $2,500 Bose surround-sound system from the Port Huron store and electronics from the Roseville store. Equipped with information about the type of vehicle they were seen leaving the Port Huron location, township police pulled over the men and found the stolen merchandise, Myers said. Accused Serial Armed Robber Arraigned in New Baltimore Court

Chesterfield Township police said the 55-year-old man took responsibility for five Macomb County robberies, including one in the township.

A 55-year-old man, formerly of Chesterfield Township, who is accused in a slew of armed robberies was arraigned today in New Baltimore, police said. Champine is being held in lieu of a $200,000 bond for a Chesterfield armed robbery. He also faces multiple other charges for robberies throughout Macomb County. His preliminary hearing in the New Baltimore district court is set for 1:30 p.m. July 30. He faces up to life imprisonment if convicted. Chesterfield Police Say Dry Cleaners Robber Also Struck in Utica

Police said Tuesday it appears the same man is responsible for the crimes.

An armed robber who struck Monday in Utica appears to be the same man who held up a Chesterfield Township dry cleaners Saturday, according to township police. “It appears that it is very likely the suspects are one in the same," Chesterfield Detective Sgt. Deron Myers said Tuesday. Investigators from both departments compared notes on the robberies and concluded it's highly plausible the suspect is responsible for both crimes. Utica police also said the man is suspected of similar crimes in Sterling Heights and Roseville. Utica police said the man entered the Dollar Tree at 13477 Hall Road around 4 p.m. Monday. Police: Man Who Stabbed McDonald's Customer Committed Unarmed Robbery in Roseville While on Lam

Chesterfield Township police, along with several law enforcement agencies, apprehended Roland Lee Moore Jr. Friday without incident.

A two-day manhunt for a parole absconder sought in the violent robbery of a McDonald's customer concluded Friday afternoon with his arrest in the 9 Mile Road and Schoenherr area, police said. With assistance from several agencies, including the County of Macomb Enforcement Team, also known as COMET, Roseville police, U.S. Marshals Service and the Department of Corrections, Chesterfield Township police nabbed Roland Lee Moore Jr., 35, around 12:30 p.m. as he left a gas station, police said. Moore, who was with a friend at the time, was taken into custody without incident for his role in the Tuesday night stabbing and robbery in the township, Chesterfield Detective Brian Dowell said Friday. Woman Accused of Chesterfield Motel Stabbing Arrested in Roseville

Annessiah Lynn Bush is charged with a felony of assault with intent to do great bodily harm for the July 8 stabbing of her partner in Chesterfield.

A 32-year-old woman accused of wounding her companion by stabbing her on the side of the head at a Chesterfield Township motel was arrested early Saturday morning in Roseville, said township police Monday. Roseville police arrested Annessiah Lynn Bush at approximately 4:30 a.m. Saturday on a felony charge of assault with intent to do great bodily harm. If convicted of the charge, Bush could face up to 10 years in prison, Detective Sgt. Deron Myers said. The charge stems from an alleged attack at 4 a.m. July 8 at the Chesterfield Motor Inn at the corner of 23 Mile and Gratiot in the township against her 55-year-old female partner.
