Alleged Stars & Stripes Shooter to Face Felony Assault, Armed Robbery and Firearm Charges

Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham has identified Demitrus Marcellas Ludaway as the suspect who shot a Detroit man in the leg Friday at the Mount Clemens Stars & Stripes Festival.

The 18-year-old Warren man accused of shooting a Detroit resident at the Mount Clemens Stars & Stripes Festival Friday will face multiple felony charges this week, police say. Demitrus Marcellas Ludaway is facing charges of assault with intent to murder, armed robbery and felony firearm, according to police. He is currently being held in the Macomb County Jail on a $75,000 cash/surety bond and is expected to be arraigned Monday in 41B District Court in Clinton Township. As some 50,000 people left the festival's fireworks display around 10:35 p.m. Friday, several eyewitnesses say they saw Ludaway shoot a 19-year-old Detroit man in the leg in the area of North Main Street and Market, Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said.  The …

An 18-year-old Warren man was arrested Friday night after a shooting at the Stars and Stripes Festival in downtown Mount Clemens.

A confrontation over Cartier sunglasses turned violent Friday night at the popular Stars and Stripes Festival in downtown Mount Clemens, police said. As thousands of people left the annual fireworks display around 10:35 p.m., an 18-year-old Warren man shot a 19-year-old Detroit man in the leg on Market Street, Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said Saturday. "There was a confrontation between two males," Wickersham said. "The suspect took the glasses off the head of the victim." When the victim went to get his glasses back, the suspect "pulls out a gun and shoots him in the leg," he said. The suspect then dropped the gun and fled. Boy Who Played With Gun Fabricates Roadside Shooter Story

Chesterfield Township police said the 14-year-old boy may be charged with making a false report.

A 14-year-old Chesterfield Township boy, who suffered a gunshot wound Saturday, initially told police a roadside gunman shot him while he jumped on the backyard trampoline, police said Monday. "He wanted officers to believe that an unknown male shot him from Cotton Road," said Detective Sgt. Deron Myers. During a police investigation, the boy confessed he made up the story after he shot himself in the leg with a .22 caliber handgun passed down to his family from his grandfather, Myers said. The boy, who underwent surgery to remove the bullet, is expected to make a complete recovery. He may, however, face juvenile charges pertaining to the false report, Myers said. Chesterfield Boy Suffers Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound

Chesterfield Township police said Sunday the boy accidentally shot himself in the leg Saturday night.

A 14-year-old Chesterfield Township boy accidentally shot himself Saturday night while playing with a family gun, police said Sunday. At approximately 9:40 p.m. police received word about the shooting in the township. "A kid reported that he was shot and they took him to the hospital and removed a bullet," township police Chief Bruce Smith said. After saying someone shot him, the child later told police he was playing with his grandfather's gun before suffering a gunshot would to the leg, Smith said. "He confessed to a detective that he actually shot himself," he said. The boy underwent surgery to remove the bullet. Police said the investigation is ongoing and there's no determination if any charges would stem from this incident at this …

2 Men Arrested in Lenox Township Shooting

The following arrest information was supplied by the Macomb County Sheriff's Office. It does not indicate a conviction.

Macomb County Sheriff's detectives have arrested two men in connection with the Lenox Township shooting on July 31.  Pontiac residents James William Chambers, 18, and Travez Lee Duncan, 20, were arrested Aug. 8 and Aug. 5, respectively, according to police. The men were arraigned in 42-2 District Court in New Baltimore by Judge William Hackel III on Aug. 9. Chambers was arraigned on the following counts: His bond was set at $300,000 cash or surety. Duncan was arraigned on conspiracy to commit larceny from a person, a 10-year felony. His bond was set at $15,000 cash or surety. The pair are accused in the July 31 shooting that occurred on Forest Road north of 30 Mile Road in Lenox Township. The victim of the shooting, a 22-year-old Richmond …

Sheriff's Detectives Search for Suspects in Lenox Twp. Shooting

The Macomb County Sheriff's Office reports that the shooting is believed to have been related to the trade or sale of marijuana.

Macomb County Sheriff's detectives are investigating a shooting that occurred Sunday along Forest Road, north of 30 Mile Road in Lenox Township. The Sheriff's Office reports that the shooting is believed to have been in connection with the trade or sale of marijuana. The shooting victim and his passenger, both 22-year-old Richmond residents, met three unidentified males at approximately 9:33 p.m. on Forest Road, according to police. Upon arrival, the suspects fired several shots into the victim’s vehicle. One of the shots hit the victim in the arm and then entered his chest. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was listed in stable condition, police said Monday. The passenger escaped injury, according to police. The …
