Parisian and Younkers department stores in Metro Detroit will be renamed Carson's by Jan. 31, 2013.
Adieu, Parisian. Bonjour, Carson’s. By this time next month, Parisian stores in Southeast Michigan, including the anchor store in The Mall at Partridge Creek in Clinton Township, will have a new name. Bon-Ton Stores, Inc., the corporate owner of Parisian and Younkers, announced Wednesday that it plans to rename its four Metro Detroit stores Carson’s, officially Carson Pirie Scott, by Jan. 31, 2013. “We believe the conversion will be seamless for our customers, as we are merely changing the store nameplate to Carson’s,” wrote Brendan Hoffman, president and chief executive officer, in a letter to store associates. “Our Parisian customers in the Detroit area will find our outstanding merchandise offerings and our commitment to providing …

The upscale women's clothing store is scheduled to open in The Mall at Partridge Creek in March 2013.
The doors won't open until March, but White House | Black Market isn't wasting any time in hiring a sales team to staff its new store at The Mall at Partridge Creek. An upscale retailer of women's fashions, WHBM sells clothing and accessories in its namesake colors of black and white. Hiring for nearly all store positions, the WHBM job's site has posted openings for part-time sales associates, part-time support associates (stock), assistant store manager and store manager. To be considered, applicants must be 18 years or older and have the equivalent of a high school diploma. The managerial positions require at least two years previous retail experience. Best Buy executives may be giving up on some of their big-box stores, according to a Wall St. Journal report this week. The Minnesota-based electronics chain said it would close 50 Best Buy stores. At this time, however, the list of stores to close isn't known. Chesterfield Township has a Best Buy store on Waterside Drive. Other Best Buy stores that are nearby include one on Gratiot in Roseville and another on Utica Park Boulevard in Utica. "I am not satisfied with the pace or degree of change we have made up to this point," Chief Executive Brian Dunn said in a conference call with analysts, adding, "We are evolving our retail store strategy. Menards, which has 250 stores across the Midwest, plans to open in summer on Hall Road, according to multiple community officials.
Local residents who love sprucing up their homes may have another shopping option by fall in Chesterfield Township. Township Supervisor Michael Lovelock said plans are set for Menards, a Midwest home improvement retailer, to develop a store this summer on vacant land between Walmart Supercenter and I-94 on the north side of Hall Road. The company has submitted site plans to the township, which have been approved, and now they are in the engineering phase, township Planning Director Janice Giese said this week. Since there's already a retention pond nearby the proposed store, the infrastructure should accommodate the development, Chesterfield Building Director Shawn Shortt said.
