Man Sought in Chesterfield Stranger-Danger Incident Approached Girls at U of M

The 69-year-old Wisconsin man was escorted off the Ann Arbor campus; he is not facing criminal charges for the township or campus incidents.

A Wisconsin man sought in a possible stranger-danger incident Wednesday night in Chesterfield Township has been identified and is not slated to face criminal charges in the community, township police said Friday. University of Michigan's Department of Public Safety helped the township identify the 69-year-old Germantown man.  The man was escorted off the Ann Arbor campus Thursday evening after he walked up to teenage girls and asked them "creepy" questions, according to Public Safety Information Officer Diane Brown. "It was reported that he had approached some young high school students on our campus," Brown said Friday.  He was not charged with any crimes in the campus incident. Chesterfield Police Alert Public to Possible Stranger Danger

Anyone with information about the suspicious incident in Chesterfield Township is asked to call police.

Chesterfield Township police said Thursday they are seeking information about a possible stranger-danger incident that took place the previous night in the 21 Mile and Interstate 94 area. At approximately 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, a man appearing to be in his 60s or 70s, pulled his Ford Explorer up to boys, ages 9 and 11, on Kristel Court. The driver asked one of the children whether "he was a boy or a girl," according to township police. When a concerned parent approached the SUV, the driver did not respond and drove off. The parent noted the man had a Wisconsin license plate. He was described as white, with gray hair and long, scruffy gray beard. He drove a black 2008-10 Explorer. Police: Strangers Who Approached Boy Were Joking

Chesterfield Township police say a stranger-danger incident did not prove to have serious intent.

Two men who approached a 12-year-old boy in the 24 Mile Road and Sass area last month and asked him to get inside their van were joking around, Chesterfield Township police said Monday. The June 13 incident, which sparked concern among area parents, took place in the Great Oaks Elementary parking lot. A boy riding his bike reported that two men asked him to get inside their work van to look for a dog. The boy ignored the men and rode his bike to his friends in back of the school. An investigation into the incident led police to a local, undisclosed roofing company. After interviewing several employees who had access to the van that day, detectives deemed the matter "horseplay."  "We're confident that we identified the company that the van …
