The early November crime took place in the 23 Mile and Gratiot area.
Chesterfield Township police said Friday they are continuing to seek tips about a suspected armed robber who struck last month. Detective Sgt. Deron Myers said they are asking the public to help identify the man who robbed a couple at gunpoint in the 23 Mile and Gratiot area. The incident stems from around 1 a.m. Nov. 7, when a man in his 20s who spent time in Buffalo Wild Wings approached a couple near the restaurant entrance and asked them for a ride to Meijer. He said his friends were going to pick him up at the nearby store, according to township police. The couple said once the man was in their backseat, he pulled out a black handgun and demanded their belongings. The pair gave him their cell phones and cash and the robber ran toward …

Are you gearing up to let your fingers do the walking on Cyber Monday?
Chesterfield Township and New Baltimore residents who didn’t want to brave the crowds on Black Friday or Small Business Saturday still have one more big chance to save courtesy of Cyber Monday. Similar to the two other major shopping events, Cyber Monday differs in that consumers don’t have to leave the comfort of their own homes (or offices) to take advantage of some pretty big pre-holiday deals. All the bargains laid out for Cyber Monday are for online shoppers only. So how can you find the best deals online this Cyber Monday? While most major retailers that have an online presence aren’t tipping their hats on their online deals just yet, many have splash pages set up that they're inviting shoppers to bookmark in advance of the Nov. 26 …

From Beaujolais Nouveau to Eiswein, there are a whole variety of wines to complement your Thanksgiving dinner.
Thanksgiving means turkey, stuffing, pumpkin pie and other great things to eat. All that good food deserves something good to drink. Fortunately, your local wine seller has plenty of options for Thanksgiving Day, including the ever popular Beaujolais Nouveau, which goes on shelves Thursday, a week before Thanksgiving “It’s a bottle to celebrate the harvest,” said Calvin Khemmoro of Merchant’s Fine Wine in Grosse Pointe Woods. The red wine, best served chilled, is young (about 6 weeks old) and does not age well. The price of a bottle of Beaujolais Nouveau ranges from $8.99-$12.99, Khemmoro said. “People look forward to it,” Khemmoro said. “It’s very fruit forward. It’s very dry.” But if Beaujolais Nouveau is not your style, Khemmoro …

Patch asks readers to share their hopes for vacancies in Chesterfield and New Baltimore.
You've passed them frequently. You remembered when they were bustling retail centers. Perhaps, you shopped at them and wished something else would take their places. In our weekly Visions for Vacancies feature, readers become pseudo city planners by offering an opportunity to share dreams for empty storefronts. Our highlighted vacancy is the former Hollywood Video in the Target plaza next on 23 Mile and Gratiot in Chesterfield. That plaza also hosts the defunct Farmer Jack store. So, Patch is asking our readers--many of whom live, work and shop in this community: What would you like to see there? Share your ideas with us in the comments section below.

You've passed them frequently. You remembered when they were hustling retail centers. Perhaps, you shopped at them and wished something else would take their places. In our weekly Visions for Vacancies feature, readers become pseudo city planners by offering an opportunity to share dreams for empty storefronts. The first subject in this series is the old Farmer Jack storefront in the Target plaza at Gratiot and 23 Mile. The defunct grocery chain has left a vacancy in a highly visible spot in Chesterfield Township. Nothing has replaced it and, as of recently, no official plans have been submitted to take its place. So, Patch is asking our readers--many of whom live, work and shop in this community: What would you like to see there? Share …

Police investigate a slew of larcenies, from fragrance to condoms, in mid-May. The following arrest information was supplied by the police department. It does not indicate a conviction.
Something Smells Foul in Store Police responded to the Target store May 18 in response to allegations a woman stole several perfume bottles. At about 2:30 p.m., the loss prevention officer at the 23 Mile and Gratiot store told police a woman stuffed fragrances in her purse and then headed into the bathroom. When the police officer arrived and spoke to the woman, she denied taking the bottles. But, as she complied to the officer's request to see inside her purse, a perfume bottle fell to the ground, police said. The stolen items—with a total value of $127.09—were Sean John—I Am King and two Dolce & Gabbana fragrances, police said. The woman was placed under arrest on suspicion of retail fraud theft and released from custody soon after. A …
